Shepherds Hut Glamping at Sumners Ponds offers quirky and beautifully handcrafted huts, ideal for a quick stop over or a romantic glamping weekend in West Sussex. The Shepherds Hut is located on the bank of the Sumners Lake and has a small veranda over the water with seating. The shepherds hut is furnished with a comfy memory foam double bed with clean white linen and cosy throws. There is a rustic table and chairs along with a wood burning stove that will keep the shepherds hut pleasantly warm even through the night.
There is a small fridge for essentials like milk and a kettle along with complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate. There aren't any toilet and shower facilities at Bathsheba but the luxury state of the art amenity block is just a minute walk away. Breakfast at The Café by the Lake is included with your stay.
Glamping at Sumners Ponds Fishery and Campsite in West Sussex is a unique and beautiful spot set in tranquil countryside amongst 100 acres of lakes, woodland and pasture.
The campsite itself boasts high quality campsite facilities, acres of woodland, a working farm and fishing lakes. All this in a beautiful and secluded setting which is perfect for just relaxing, or for the more active, exploring the many footpaths and safe cycle-ways within and around the site.
Sumners Ponds is an ideal touring base, with many beautiful towns and villages near by. Access to the South Downs National Park and the coast is easy, while Brighton is only half an hour by car and London only one hour away. There really is something for everyone.
The Cafe by the Lake is our restaurant and bar which is open to both those staying on site and the general public. We aim to provide the highest standard of food and service.
When you arrive the Smith family and the team will be here to ensure that your glamping break in West Sussex is as enjoyable as possible. We look forward to welcoming you.

We only live about 20 minutes away, & we regularly come out (each week) for a walk around the fishing lakes & a bite to eat in the café: but we do love coming to stay & the shepherds huts are so reasonable for a bit of a treat occasion! The bathroom/shower block is just brilliant (love the birdsong recordings) & every time we’ve been we have always had the best reception & help from the staff! The food is great in the café & the facilities in the accommodation are just enough to tide you over between breakfast which is very filling, until late in the day! The local pub is fine & you can order in from local suppliers for delivery (at reception) if you don’t want to go out to eat! The local farm shop a couple of miles away is also a brilliant stop off for fresh items, & even closer, the shop on the village too- just walking distance!! Looking forward to our next stay: we can also recommend the larger Lodges for a trip with friends or family. Thanks again to all the staff, brilliant!

Had another fun filled stay at Sumner’s. Weather could have been kinder but it didn’t dampen our fun. Cafe staff are so lovely, cheerful and helpful, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast there every morning. Reception staff are welcoming and do whatever they can to help. The only issue we found this year was a more visible presence of furry four legged pests! I know they are always going to be about but they were certainly bolder this year! We had a sneak raid into the caravan awning to steal some food one night.

The hut was small but cosy. Good location to cafe and toilet block. Clean. We were there for two nights and because we couldn’t check in until 4pm and had to check out by 10am, it only gave us a short time at the site. The hut is so small (and we are asked to strip the beds!) so I’m sure it would be feasible to have 2pm check in and at least 11am check out. £222 for one day is a lot!Breakfast was great and plentiful - shower blocks clean.

The added Dog Woods were a real bonus of being able to release our dogs the freedom to roam the woods. My only suggestion would be to gravel the water tap area and to place an additional bench in the wood for the owners to sit out of the sun.

The staff were so kind and friendly and took time to make sure we were completely happy. The food was excellent and catered for most tastes. Lots of lovely walks. Great pubs close by. Clean amenities. A safe and welcoming place that I’d definitely go back to

For years my friend and I have enjoyed camping at Sumners with our children; the location is fantasic for a relaxing break in the heart of the countryside with lots to offer for nearby. The staff have always been very welcoming and helpful. The cafe, with its option of outdoor seating, is a great place to visit any time offering great lunches and cakes. For those staying, the shower/toilet facilities are amazing! Now that our children are grown, my friend and I have upgraded to the 'glamping' experience; staying in the very comfortable shepherds hut with a fabulous full english breakfast included. Nothing beats relaxing by the water in the sun and watching the wildlife pass by; fully recommend it! (I am told that the fishing is pretty good too! ;)

What a great place! We stayed in a shepherd's hut. The facilities are amazing and very clean. Staff very friendly. Breakfast outstanding. Great fishing facilities.Only improvement suggestion would be for the café to be opened earlier for breakfast and later in the evening.Over all, a fantastic weekend! We will definitely be back!

We recently stayed in one of the Lakeside Shepherd Huts and it was a lovely weekend with great weather luckily! Was exactly what we expected and was very clean…Very happy with the shower block and toilet facilities and cleanliness. We ate in the café by the lake a couple of times for breakfast as It is included with our stay package. It is a shame that the food for the evening stops at 3 pm as we would’ve possibly had a meal in the evening there if we could’ve. The only negative of the whole day was that the cocktails by the pump were quite expensive compared to the last time we were down Unfortunately, we only had one of those before heading to the local pub… (Which is a shame as we would’ve liked to have stayed there and drank by the lake).
