The Shepherds Hut is located on the bank of the Sumners Lake and has a small veranda over the water with seating. The shepherds hut is furnished with a comfy memory foam double bed with clean white linen and cosy throws. There is a rustic table and chairs along with a wood burning stove that will keep the shepherds hut pleasantly warm even through the night.

There is a small fridge for essentials like milk and a kettle along with complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate. There aren't any toilet and shower facilities at Bathsheba but the luxury state of the art amenity block is just a minute walk away. Breakfast at The Café by the Lake is included with your stay.

Glamping at Sumners Ponds Fishery and Campsite in West Sussex is a unique and beautiful spot set in tranquil countryside amongst 100 acres of lakes, woodland and pasture.

The campsite itself boasts high quality campsite facilities, acres of woodland, a working farm and fishing lakes. All this in a beautiful and secluded setting which is perfect for just relaxing, or for the more active, exploring the many footpaths and safe cycle-ways within and around the site.

Sumners Ponds is an ideal touring base, with many beautiful towns and villages near by. Access to the South Downs National Park and the coast is easy, while Brighton is only half an hour by car and London only one hour away. There really is something for everyone.

The Cafe by the Lake is our restaurant and bar which is open to both those staying on site and the general public. We aim to provide the highest standard of food and service.

When you arrive the Smith family and the team will be here to ensure that your glamping break in West Sussex is as enjoyable as possible. We look forward to welcoming you.

"Shepherds Hut"

Mrs Heath - Stayed with friends, Jul 2018

Fridge wasn't working, showers were being cleaned at 9 am on a Sunday morning and closed for 45 mins...wouldn't it make more sense for this to be done very early and late morning, not when most people are wanting to shower?!

"A nice peaceful break while touring."

Mr R Wolfenden - Stayed with partner, Jul 2018

In early July it was quiet and not busy. We rented a Shepards Hut and enjoyed restful nights and relaxing days on our deck at the ponds edge.

"OK for a one time short peaceful UK stay"

It is good for one, max two stays. There are limited things to do unless you want to go fishing. No security cameras, and the sheds/shepherd huts/safari tents/tents etc are not very secure, lots of people can easily walk around site during the day. There is the same boy there at reception for over a year now - I think he may be connected to the owners as he is very arrogant, does not know a thing about fishing when asked, despite that being the only specality of the campsite? Never has assisted with any query I have had or gone out his way for customer service unlike the others at the cafe. Cafe is far too overpriced for what it is - not a proper restaurant. Limited selection of vegan items on the menu for my partner.

Mr P Skuse - Stayed with partner, Jun 2018

We had a really nice time. The breakfast deal was lush. Only thing I might change is that the curtains to the hut were very pale and lights were on outside all night making it a bit hard to kip but that’s being picky really. Thoroughly enjoyed. Would recommend to... We had a really nice time. The breakfast deal was lush. Would recommend to friends staying locally. Wash facilities and cafe top notch. Lovely food and reasonably priced.

We did go back to reception where we were told, things don't last forever- it wasn't replaced. We took milk etc that had to be binned. The nettles were cut back. It was a shame because the hut was lovely and the weather glorious

"Luxury couples fishing trip"

Miss Z Werner - Stayed with partner, May 2018

Loved every minute of our stay at Sumners. Only bad thing is that I wish I booked for us to stay longer. We booked a shepherds hut as the trip was based around fishing. I noticed everything was so well maintained and the complex ran like clockwork. The cafe by lake is fab, the food is top quality and the staff are very friendly. Everyone we spoke to fishing was very kind, the complex is perfect for a couples getaway! I did not see many children here so can not comment on the facilities for such, however it seems to appeal to couples of all ages.

Absolutely loved a cheeky weekend get away. Staff/ cafe and facilities all perfect. 10/10 If I were to decorate my own shepherds hut, I would make plusher curtains, sand back the flooring, pop a rug down and paint everything in neutral greys and creams....but that’s... So when we pulled up at Sumners we were greeted by cattle tucking into dinner which is a talking point in itself, then we were greeted by a very polite, helpful girl in the reception area. On getting the keys and approaching our hut I could tell straight away we had made the right decision to stay here. Our hut was amazing, rustic, clean & tidy with some great features. The restaurant was our next port of call and it was outstanding! The staff were exceptional and the food was such a high standard that we found ourselves talking about it for hours after. The facilities are great, We had a nice hot shower and it was clean and spacious! Not your norm for these type of places. The fishing was very good but unsuccessful on this occasion but nice swims to set up at, just a shame about the weather. My only criticisms are tiny ones: I would have liked the logs for the log burners a little smaller as they smothered the fire making it hard to keep it alight, also be careful where they are stacked as the burner gets very hot and will burn and touching logs on the outside. We stayed in old George and it could do with a bit of wire mesh put down on the entrance platform as the boards do get slippery when wet. All in all it is an amazing place to stay, I would highly recommend a visit. We will be returning in due course and look forward to more excellent service! Well done!!
