Shepherds Hut Glamping at Sumners Ponds offers quirky and beautifully handcrafted huts, ideal for a quick stop over or a romantic glamping weekend in West Sussex. The Shepherds Hut is located on the bank of the Sumners Lake and has a small veranda over the water with seating. The shepherds hut is furnished with a comfy memory foam double bed with clean white linen and cosy throws. There is a rustic table and chairs along with a wood burning stove that will keep the shepherds hut pleasantly warm even through the night.

There is a small fridge for essentials like milk and a kettle along with complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate. There aren't any toilet and shower facilities at Bathsheba but the luxury state of the art amenity block is just a minute walk away. Breakfast at The Café by the Lake is included with your stay.

Glamping at Sumners Ponds Fishery and Campsite in West Sussex is a unique and beautiful spot set in tranquil countryside amongst 100 acres of lakes, woodland and pasture.

The campsite itself boasts high quality campsite facilities, acres of woodland, a working farm and fishing lakes. All this in a beautiful and secluded setting which is perfect for just relaxing, or for the more active, exploring the many footpaths and safe cycle-ways within and around the site.

Sumners Ponds is an ideal touring base, with many beautiful towns and villages near by. Access to the South Downs National Park and the coast is easy, while Brighton is only half an hour by car and London only one hour away. There really is something for everyone.

The Cafe by the Lake is our restaurant and bar which is open to both those staying on site and the general public. We aim to provide the highest standard of food and service.

When you arrive the Smith family and the team will be here to ensure that your glamping break in West Sussex is as enjoyable as possible. We look forward to welcoming you.

"Always an amazing place to stay"

Mrs K Smeeth - Stayed with partner, May 2022

We stayed in old George shepherds hut Monday to Friday. It was absolutely lovely and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. We just wish you could fish from these huts which with abit of planning it probably could happen. We then stayed in Bathsheba Friday to Sunday. This again was a lovely little hut. Only downfall on this hut was The bed was uncomfortable and the WiFi didn’t work so we had no service on our phones once we was in the hut.. Portaloos and the luxury toilets with showers in camp where always clean and nice to use. The portaloos on match lake and Betty’s lake could do with regular cleaning as these where not very pleasant to use, could possibly benefit from having two of them on match lake as this lake is always extremely busy.. As always the staff all around camp where friendly and helpful and the food at the cafe and pizza van was lovely and very tasty. We come to sumners pond every year without fail and will continue to do so for many more years.

Absolutely loved the place, we stayed in Gabriel shepherd hut the only things that were a pain was a catkin tree next to it that was dropping catkins that stuck to everything and they we’re putting up a new safari tent next to us and having builders on site with noisy drilling and hammering and electric saws going, I do feel that these jobs should be done over winter and not when site is busy, saying all that we will definitely book again , the food in cafe was just so nice,

Stayed at Old George shepherds hut Cosy in the evenings with log burner. Beautiful sunny morning sitting on the decking overlooking the lake with a coffee Fabulous breakfast included Water feature runs all night, didn’t bother us as we found it therapeutic but others may dislike. Very load geese in the morning (early) not ideal if you want a lie in BUT this is what you expect from a campsite stay & should embrace the nature. Friendly staff (and on site cat Mouse) very helpful with information and requirements Shame the cafe closes early ( I assume out of season only) would have gone for early eve dinner & drinks Nice walk to pub (bax castle) although we took a different route back to stay off the road (little but dangerous there) Toilets/showers clean, aplenty, safe & accommodating We didn’t fish but I know the fishing is fab from family members Local shop next to campsite is basic but all your needs Local rural pub next door was great.

Have stayed many times. Always a pleasure. So peaceful. The Shepherd's huts are delightful, warm, and comfortable- they have thought of everything! Spotless facilities. Good walks for pets and humans. (Beware of the bulls at Black Cherry Farm). Checkout La Piazatta... Have stayed many times. Always a pleasure. So peaceful. "Lovely relaxing break"

Ms S Murrell - Stayed Nov 2021

I previously came in the Spring when the surrounding woods were full of bluebells and thought I'd return in Autumn. I actually missed Autumn, but I particularly wanted to stay in Gabriel, so I waited for available dates to suit. Sumners Ponds is lovely in Winter too.... I actually missed Autumn, but I particularly wanted to stay in Gabriel, so I waited for available dates to suit. Sumners Ponds is lovely in Winter too. It was quiet, comfortable and relaxing. I love the shepherds huts and will be back in the summer, so that I can enjoy sitting out on the veranda or in the garden area in the evening.
