Shepherds Hut Glamping at Sumners Ponds offers quirky and beautifully handcrafted huts, ideal for a quick stop over or a romantic glamping weekend in West Sussex. The Shepherds Hut is located on the bank of the Sumners Lake and has a small veranda over the water with seating. The shepherds hut is furnished with a comfy memory foam double bed with clean white linen and cosy throws. There is a rustic table and chairs along with a wood burning stove that will keep the shepherds hut pleasantly warm even through the night.
There is a small fridge for essentials like milk and a kettle along with complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate. There aren't any toilet and shower facilities at Bathsheba but the luxury state of the art amenity block is just a minute walk away. Breakfast at The Café by the Lake is included with your stay.
Glamping at Sumners Ponds Fishery and Campsite in West Sussex is a unique and beautiful spot set in tranquil countryside amongst 100 acres of lakes, woodland and pasture.
The campsite itself boasts high quality campsite facilities, acres of woodland, a working farm and fishing lakes. All this in a beautiful and secluded setting which is perfect for just relaxing, or for the more active, exploring the many footpaths and safe cycle-ways within and around the site.
Sumners Ponds is an ideal touring base, with many beautiful towns and villages near by. Access to the South Downs National Park and the coast is easy, while Brighton is only half an hour by car and London only one hour away. There really is something for everyone.
The Cafe by the Lake is our restaurant and bar which is open to both those staying on site and the general public. We aim to provide the highest standard of food and service.
When you arrive the Smith family and the team will be here to ensure that your glamping break in West Sussex is as enjoyable as possible. We look forward to welcoming you.

It has become an annual tradition with five families and we are already booked for next year. I am not an enthusiastic camper as I hate tents but the fact that there are options that include huts and pods has meant I am able to continue to join our group each year. There are usually 21 in our group and all of us are able to choose what’s best for our budget and enjoyment. The bathroom facilities are great- which has been a very important deciding factor! The chilled atmosphere around the site and great cafe with its helpful staff makes it a place where even the most unenthusiastic camper returns year on year!

Had a lovely, relaxing stay in one of the shepherds huts for 2 nights. It is starting to look a bit tired now, we had mentioned the fridge issues and the kettle being to small, the lead attached is dangerous, on the last stay but they were still the same on the visits. We have stayed in nearly all of the Sumner Ponds Accommodation now except for ‘Robins Nest’ (as it is just to over priced for us). The cafe has lovely food and is reasonably priced but the opening hours are not good (closes way to early and stops serving food at a ridiculous times - i understand in winter but not in summer). The deposit being 50% of the stay when booking in advance is ridiculous- we don’t mind paying 3 months before but I believe you should put a £100(for huts) & £200(safari tents) & £500(for lodges) as it’s hard to find half of the amount so far in advance. Also, actually taking the actual money when you check in for a deposit incase of breakages is also becoming an issue for guests (extra payout).

Nothing not to like. A superb chillout. What a view from my bed every morning over the lake! Welcoming staff, clean facilities and interesting local walks. No need to fish but that adds to the whole experience.

Thankfully the shepherds hut was located under a tree canopy so it kept it quite cool during the hot weather. It was furnished very nicely with adequate facilities. The toilets/showers were immaculately clean. The use of fridges and freezers provided by the site was an added bonus. The whole site is kept very clean and tidy but still kept its relaxing touch. We visited The Queens Head local pub for dinner on Saturday evening, which was very reasonably priced and all the food was freshly cooked to a very high standard. The food in the Cafe was very good too. The only criticism would be the Cafe area be kept a bit cleaner as the tables seemed very sticky from the tree sap, and the decking should be swept more frequently. We did use the blue roll and spray cleaner provided in the green hut for our so it wasn't a great issue. Amelia was very friendly and worked really hard whenever we saw her and she was friendly and smiling.

We love staying here as we always have a relaxing stay and my partner does a bit of fishing which he loves. The only down fall was that that the branches of the tree were banging on the shepherds hut so if they were cut back it would be perfect. I did report this back and they advised that they would ask maintenance to cut them back. We love it here and would definitely recommend it 😀
