"Holiday accommodation"

Mr C Rice - Stayed with partner, Sep 2020

Grebe lodge was very good, the only problem as far as we were concerned was the double decks due to the fact that we have mobility problems last year we stayed in Morgan lodge which was much easier, it would be an idea to put this information in your brochure.

"Winter fishing break"

Mr J Hollands - Stayed with partner, Jan 2020

Enjoyed our time at Sumners Ponds. I came for the fishing that was OK. No carp out of Sumners Pond but it will always be hard in January. Accomodation was comfortable and warm. Washing facilities would like a proper shower, rather than one that feeds off the bath... Enjoyed our time at Sumners Ponds. I came for the fishing that was OK. Excellent, will come again.

The facilities at the lodge were very comfortable, and everything was very well presented and clean. We do feel that certain things require a bit of an upgrade though, such as the kitchen & bathroom. The kitchen, although adequate, it was looking quite shabby and needed replacement . The bathroom would also benefit from being replaced and a walk in shower would be a much safer option. It currently has a bath with a shower above, but there is nothing to stop you slipping in the bath and nothing to hold onto whilst getting out of the bath, which is slippery when wet. The outside furniture was very old, and the steps down to the decking platform were quite rickety. There is chicken wire attached to the walkway around the lodge to stop you slipping when wet, but this is poorly attached and caused us to trip a couple of times, and the chairs around the table became entangled in it when trying to shuffle your chair up to the table. I think for the price charged, these things need addressing. However we had a lovely holiday and really enjoyed the Cafe/Bar/Restaurant, the standard of which was very high in comparison with other camp sites we have stayed on. I would recommend the site to anyone, and found the staff very friendly and helpful.

It is advertised as equipped to a high standard I would suggest they change that , as the standard of the cooking utensils is very poor. The beds are comfortable but the twin beds are not adult size they are only suitable for children . We are going back next year as the lakes are good for fishing.
