We came before in September but this year the lodge was already booked so visited at beginning of November. Had a great week, lovely lakeside lodge, good fishing despite the sudden cold nights, nice cafe and friendly staff. However, disappointed with how many dogs off -lead there were - saw more off than on, whereas our dog is always on a lead. Saw dogs running up to people walking which is not good as some folk and children are afraid of dogs, and had several running down to get into our fishing bait when we were fishing. Also people visiting cafe seem to be able to wander at will everywhere so not great security - we made sure we didn't leave any fishing gear out on varanda when we were out. It's a lovely place but becoming very over-crowded with new pods and shepherds huts. Planned to return next year at our usual September time but have just seen the price for September next year has increased from £610 to £780! I know the lodge sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms (& 2 on sofa bed) but would be awfully crowded with one bathroom. We stay in September with four of us but we need the three bedrooms - sadly at that price we'll need to reconsider as three of us are pensioners and of course the cost of fishing is not included.

Another enjoyable stay at Moorhen Lodge 14-21 Oct. The Only down side with the lodge is the lighting which is very low level and on dark evenings it isn't possible to do a jigsaw, reading a book is difficult, embroidering not possible even eating meals is 'over romantic'. Better and brighter quality lighting would be nice. Although this isn't really within your remit, we did place a bag suitably labelled with name, lodge name and dates in the fridge in the loo block behind the lodge with 5 bottles of beer for one night. When we returned to retrieve it, it was missing! Now this could only have been someone one on the site, possibly a fisherman, that knew the code to the block, which is unfortunate. But as the saying goes once bitten!! We did bring this to the attention of the site crew the following day who said they would look at the CCTV but we heard nothing more.
