Experience camping in a glamping pod at Sumners Ponds Fishery & Campsite. The concept is to bring all your own equipment less the tent – so you need to bring your own bedding including mattress or camp bed, cooking equipment and anything else you think you might need for a camping trip. Best of all you will be cosy and warm with no wet tent to pack away at the end of your stay.

The glamping pod consists of lockable double doors, carpeted flooring, electric heater and lighting with the use of a double plug socket. There is also a small decking area on each of the pods for use as a seating and cooking area. At each pod there is a picnic table exclusively for your use.

Use of the showers blocks and electricity is included. Fishing is separate and tickets can be purchased when you arrive. The Small Lakeside Glamping Pods are located on the Sumners Lake and Farm Pond and can sleep up to two adults and two small children.

Glamping at Sumners Ponds Fishery and Campsite in West Sussex is a unique and beautiful spot set in tranquil countryside amongst 100 acres of lakes, woodland and pasture.

The campsite itself boasts high quality campsite facilities, acres of woodland, a working farm and fishing lakes. All this in a beautiful and secluded setting which is perfect for just relaxing, or for the more active, exploring the many footpaths and safe cycle-ways within and around the site.

Sumners Ponds is an ideal touring base, with many beautiful towns and villages near by. Access to the South Downs National Park and the coast is easy, while Brighton is only half an hour by car and London only one hour away. There really is something for everyone.

The Cafe by the Lake is our restaurant and bar which is open to both those staying on site and the general public. We aim to provide the highest standard of food and service.

When you arrive the Smith family and the team will be here to ensure that your glamping break in West Sussex is as enjoyable as possible. We look forward to welcoming you.

"Helpful, friendly staff"

C Elliott - Stayed with friends, Jun 2019

We celebrated my husband's birthday at Sumners. A few of us stayed on-site and a large group of us had dinner at the Cafe by the Lake. The staff were so helpful and friendly and made sure the evening went smoothly.

We recently came for our second stay in a camping pod, having had an amazing time the first time, I brought my boyfriend back for another overnight stay. The first time we stayed was about two years ago and we stayed in Pod 6, which is really quite different to Pod 3. We found Pod 3 to be missing the nice recliner chairs Pod 6 has, which made a massive difference actually because we were looking forward to spending most of the evening relaxing outside the pod and enjoying the view and the chairs in place are small and rickety. The picnic table had several bird poos and some remains of past meals from previous stays, and our bedding became damp through the night due to the environment I guess but can you imagine what state it would be in if staying more than one night, you could feel the dampness on touch. Not sure of the cleaning tasks but the shelf was dusty too. Sumners Ponds is amazing and is great in many ways, it just feels like this pod is tired, damp, dirty and not very comfortable, feels a bit like it’s been forgotten and could do with some TLC. Why not have fairy lights on Pod 3, like Pod 6 has? It’s small touches plus general upkeep that will keep people returning year after year. I wouldn’t come back to stay in Pod 3 as it is right now. Positive points are your staff are all absolutely lovely, so helpful and you can see they enjoy their work. It’s a beautiful environment and the site facilities are fab. I did post a recent recommendation on social media for Sumners but just kept it positive as I think that overall it’s a great place to stay but please do some doing up of Pod 3 for future guests 😊

The pod was very clean and tidy and it was great to be able to just get up and fish. It was also handy having a table and chairs outside. The cafe is excellent and so are the toilet facilities. Only downside was being woken up at 5 by someone driving and slamming doors outside our pod. Also talking quite loudly. Maybe there should be a barrier to stop people doing this until they are supposed to come in.

The camping pod was perfect and allowed my husband to fish throughout the night - luckily catching two fish! The shower block was modern and exceptionally cleaned and well kept and there were nice walks to do around the campsite. It was great for our 4 year old as well, who enjoyed the play area and also catching some fish on the smaller lake. We’d visit again!

Also we had pod 6, it's almost impossible to fish the margins as so much debris and snags. Over grown trees makes it impossible to cast to the island. Also please make balifs check people's rigs. So many fish in farm pond are damaged as a result of kids mishandling the fish or poorly tied rigs.

"Nice weekend of Fishing and Sumner's pond Ale"

2 comments. 1. I was charged 60 pounds to hiring fishing equipment. 30 per day. I think that is a bit too much. 2. The cafe gives a bit too posh even for glamping kind of feel. If they add wood fired pizza or slight change in theme or menu to align with the camping theme is the only comment I have. Otherwise everything is perfect. Happy with all the rest of it.

Could do with more childrens play area..especially for the older child. Fishing was the main reason we stayed..Somners Lake needs more fish, we have fished it 5 times now and caught nothing, from what I understand a lot of big fish were moved to another lake (presumably Bettys). Match lake has plenty to spare... Security, no gates.. so anyone can get in at night, which makes us wonder if it is safe to leave fishing rods set up outside the accomodation.
