Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.
Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.
There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.
This larger A6+ cabin can sleep six and has a double bed in the main bedroom, twin beds in the second bedroom and a double bed settee in the lounge. The bathroom has a full size bath and shower over. The fully equipped kitchen includes a washing machine and dishwasher. In the open plan living area, a TV with DVD player is provided for added entertainment. Sliding patio doors open onto a paved patio.
A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.

If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.
There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

A place that has virtually everything for people who want to chill out. The trees, wildlife, the cabins- basic but comfortable- and the sea and coastal path just down the road. Then there's the horses, if you are that way inclined, or walking. Just 2 things, I wonder if it's possible to change the steepness of the paths in Churchwood? No, ok, then maybe just lower the wall mounted TV's a small amount so our necks don't get fatigued. A very small niggle and one easily dealt with. Wonderful and we WILL be back!

Churchwood Valley provides the perfect place to relax and also to stretch our legs walking down to the beach and back up. We had a Delicious lunch at the Mussel Inn one day and a good-sized take away from Elburton one evening. The local Asda and Co-Op are well stocked. We saw and heard owls at night, rooks, blackbird and robins plus a cheeky squirrel in the day.Great space for people and dogs. The cabin was a perfect size, clean and comfortable, with just enough of everything.I appreciate washing up, or just sitting with a view of the trees and the birds and squirrels. Really looking forward to coming back next year.

This is the 2nd time we have been as a couple and forth time for me personally. Such a lovely time away together with our two pups. Time to switch off and really relax properly and I mean properly. Time to sit and take stock and balance the mind in such a tranquil setting and in comfort. Taking time to spend together and some fantastic early morning walks to be had too. Cabin was fantastic, clean, warm and has everything you need. We really enjoy it at Churchwood Valley, its such a healing place to be. We have already booked again for next year it suits us that much. 110% satisfied

After our second stay at Churchwood, I can’t wait to return. If you enjoy being surrounded by wildlife and within 5-10 mins walk of a beach, this is definitely for you. The coastal walks are as lovely as you’d expect from this corner of the UK and the park itself is quiet, pretty and provides privacy in the comfortable cabins. The onsite shop is well-stocked and all the staff very friendly. 5 stars from me.

One of many wonderful trips to an incredible location. Log cabins comfortable and well maintained. Beach brilliant but can be crowded and not dog friendly in the summer. Parking in Plymouth is a nightmare and expensive. Site staff friendly and supportive. Hills on site very steep but manageable. Take bird seed. Birds are plentiful and friendly

Our cabin was clean, well equipped, a lovely view and all the extras we had requested were there waiting for us.We spent the majority of our time on the beach enjoying the sand and sea. We went for a couple if walks to the "rocket house".The children enjoyed the well equipped playground and the older one had two enjoyable rides with Wembury Bay riding school. My moth trap was used and caught a number of moths which were new to me. I have a general interest in nature but am in no means expert in any field. The children enjoyed the variety of birds which came to the seed we put out ----and the squirrels. My bat detector also got some use.All in all we had a lovely family holiday.
Thank you so much for this great review, and we are especially glad that you found that Churchwood delivered with regards to being surrounded by nature. Hope to see you again before too long.
