Accepted Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.
Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.
There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.
This larger A6+ cabin can sleep six and has two twin bedrooms and a double bed settee in the lounge. The bathroom has a full size bath and shower over. The fully equipped kitchen includes a washing machine and dishwasher. In the open plan living area, a TV with DVD player is provided for added entertainment. Sliding patio doors open onto a paved patio.
A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.
If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.
There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

Our family have been coming to Churchwood since the mid ‘80s and are still in love with the place; it’s timeless.Beginning as a courting couple, with family, right through marriage and an increasing family ourselves we returned this year as a couple again with mother-in-law: I say this because the cabins in this location have been part of our family and still remain so.Offering peace, tranquillity and no major road traffic noise we unwind and can just simply be. If you desire excitement, entertainment and shopping Plymouth is but a short hop away. The place, the people and the surroundings may slowly evolve but it’s lasting character remains. With a firm welcome from those who tend and manage this location, the environment and the shop we will continue to return

This was our third stay at Churchwood Valley. We found the accommodation as clean and comfortable as always, with all the amenities, plus a washing machine which we were not actually expecting! We love the location but were sorry to see that the terrible weather had caused some erosion to paths and roads. We had a fantastic rockpooling safari with the Wembury Marine Centre and enjoyed a trip to The Box also, which gave us more insight into local marine life. The only thing which would be lovely would be perhaps a rope swing here and there for the children to play on.

Our second stay and it was still as lovely as the first! Even though we had rain it was still warm, clean and cosy in our cabin so we didn’t mind! As we had lots to look out for with the squirrels feeding at our bird table! The dog loved his long walk along the coast stopping for lunch about 2 miles away in the Eddystone Inn. The coastline is beautiful and well worth a walk to view Noss Mayo. You can catch a ferry in the summer however as we’re out of season it wasn’t operating which wasn’t a problem as the view was idyllic!! Would come back again anytime of year!

We had a wonderful stay at churchwood Valley. The location was very relaxing, cabin surrounded with trees and birds singing, very peaceful. Cabin was spotless and had additional cleaning equipment should you need it. The shower was superb with great water pressure. Internet connection was also really good. Our cabin had easy access. There where great walks directly from the cabin and no need to drive anywhere if you didn't need to. Only issue was the beach directly from the cabin was closed to dog from May to Sep so we had to drive 8 mins to bovisand Beach, but our dogs loved the stream next to the site more than the beach!!! Can't wait to come back
Thank you for leaving us such a great review, and we very much hope that you will book again. Just a reminder that while Wembury Bay does indeed have the dog ban from May to the end of September, Langdon Beach (as detailed on your guest map) is only a little further along the coast path and is dog friendly all year round. Thanks again for your kind comments about our holiday park.
