Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.
Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.
There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.
Garden Lodge is always extremely popular! Secluded and spacious, sleeping up to six people in two bedrooms and a double sofa bed in the sun room. Two bathrooms, sitting room and sun lounge. Dishwasher and washing machine. Gardens to front and rear. Located at the bottom of the valley, it sits in its own tranquil area of the site which teems with wildlife. It has an enclosed patio area, a secluded lawn and a carport. Garden Lodge has a TV with DVD player, roomy wardrobes in the bedrooms as well as a well-equipped kitchen which has everything you'd expect.
A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.
If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.
There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

We have stayed here probably a dozen times now and will continue to return. A lovely place to stay. Cabins are very private and not overlooked and set in a wooded valley. You can walk to the beach and many walks around without using your car.

We have stayed at Churchwood Valley many times and have always loved it. This week long break was no exception. As always, the cabin was spotless and fully equipped. The staff were as unfailingly charming as ever. We will certainly be back. Thank you Churchwood!

We stayed at Churchwood Valley, Garden Lodge. As a family, we needed some peace and quiet time to reflect on the passing of my husband. The garden lodge was the perfect place to do this, only the sounds of the Owl's at night and the delightful free range hen's of a day. Love the fact NO club house, there is a well equipped shop onsite . Thank you again, Tom, for collecting and putting our shopping in the Lodge, as we were delayed and arrived after the delivery slotWe have stayed here before and love the surrounding area. The walks with our 2 doggies and further afield to visit family in Plymouth. I will certainly visit Churchwood again.

Great location, really enjoyed returning after a 20 year hiatus. As expected, the accommodation is fairly basic but met our needs and represents reasonable value for money. Churchwood Valley is a wonderful location for a family holiday, particularly if the weather is nice (as it was). We will definitely be back.

A perfect holiday. The whole reserve is incredibly clean and the staff at churchwood incredibly friendly and professional. Our cabin was spacious and immersed in the green. We even had a few squirrels come pay us a visit. We will definitely come back.

This is the third visit to the camp and the second stay in the garden lodge. We found and thought the camp to be clean and the chalet had been made ready for us ,including a surprise and very welcome , cream tea.We like the area , we like the people and we like the chalet. We tend to roam around the area from Dartmouth to Dartmoor to the Cornish coast. We like the trees and the quiet of the camp…… if you like big cities ,then Plymouth is close to hand. If you like the beach and quietness ….then there is the beach and coastal walk with 500 yards……450 metres to you youngsters. We could not find fault with anything.
