Churchwood Valley Holiday Cabins
Sleeps
up to 6 |
2 Bedroom |
Suitable for Families | WIFI Available | Pet Friendly | Instant Booking |
Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.
Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.
There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.
Garden Lodge is always extremely popular! Secluded and spacious, sleeping up to six people in two bedrooms and a double sofa bed in the sun room. Two bathrooms, sitting room and sun lounge. Dishwasher and washing machine. Gardens to front and rear. Located at the bottom of the valley, it sits in its own tranquil area of the site which teems with wildlife. It has an enclosed patio area, a secluded lawn and a carport. Garden Lodge has a TV with DVD player, roomy wardrobes in the bedrooms as well as a well-equipped kitchen which has everything you'd expect.
A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.
If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.
There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

This was our third stay at Churchwood, and The Garden Lodge was a real treat - super comfortable and so well equipped, it felt like home! As always the welcome and the responsiveness of the team was second to none. Thank you - We will be back!

We were returning to Garden Lodge after 2 years as the larger 3 beds were already booked out. However it is a lovely cabin with a well appointed kitchen and 2 bathrooms although the second is a little dated. The sitting room has recently been upgraded although the tv is an older model (not a smart tv). The cabin is in a quiet spot with only the woodpeckers and squirrels for company which we love. There is a great covered area for our paddle boards and canoes, the beach is only 10 minutes walk or less than 5 is we are taking lots of kit. Churchwood is a great base for a holiday with nature and easy access to Wembury beach great for swimming, rock pools and water sports.

This time we were in the Garden Lodge which is pleasant and very spacious. It has a large lounge, a separate, well-equipped kitchen, 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms and all are very clean. The added extra was a daily visit from Tom’s gorgeous free-range chickens. Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, peaceful setting with lots of wildlife. You are unaware of the other cabins as they are dotted on the slopes of the valley amongst the lush green foliage. This is a great place to relax and immerse yourself in nature to get away from it all. The nearby Wembury Bay beach is fabulous. The beach has clean toilets, a shower and a café selling coffee, delicious cakes, ice cream and more. If you get bored with the beach or the weather is overcast there is lots to do and places to visit, for both adults and children, in and around the Plymouth area. The staff are friendly and very helpful, and I highly recommend Churchwood Valley Holiday

The added extra was a daily visit from Tom’s gorgeous free-range chickens. Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, peaceful setting with lots of wildlife. You are unaware of the other cabins as they are dotted on the slopes of the valley amongst the lush green foliage and access is by narrow, winding roads which can be a bit tricky by car but necessary to keep the privacy of each cabin. This is a great place to relax and immerse yourself in nature to get away from it all. We were lucky with the weather and had 2 glorious, relaxing days on the beautiful Wembury Bay beach. The beach is a short walk away but as I am disabled, we use the car park which is free for Blue Badge holders. It’s a tricky walk down to the beach for me, e

We had a lovely, totally relaxing break in this beautiful place. Even though the rain lashed down and the winds were wild, it was magical.

Love the setting but the beds oh my goodness they are the most uncomfortable beds ever, mattresses need replacing they are rigid, the springs can be felt. We Iove the the holiday park but this has seriously put me off both myself & my husband spent our break sleeping on the sofas. The towels have also seen better days worn out, rough with no texture, far too small. The cabin was lovely, extremely well equipped, so clean, fresh, spacious & airy. I also feel a warning should be put on the information about the problems with the steep roads when wet, muddy & leaf fall causing issues with vehicle traction, beware you may need a new clutch. My husband is a very experienced driver having driven heavy vehicles through various terrains & conditions so to be told we should've read the information was somewhat judgemental & rude. The instructions only mention directions into the park so please be more specific for future customers. The area is outstanding for natural beauty, peace & harmony

Garden Lodge is a place that my Mum & Dad came to many times, sadly they are no longer with us. My sister and I came down to remember them. As always, the lodge was very nice, but we do have a couple of suggestions. A couple of rails outside both doors for someone who would need them to get down the steps also some handles in the bathrooms for holding onto over the bath and shower. Apart from these suggestion it was spot on. Kind Regards Paul Crispe

Churchwood is a lovely site and the owners are very honest about what they are and what they are not. The site is a peaceful wildlife haven near the beach with everything you need for a self catering holiday. We stayed in Garden lodge which is one of the more expensive because I wanted the bonus of having a washing machine, but there is a laundry on site if you need. Our lodge had had a revamp since we last stayed and looked more in keeping with what people expect from a 4 star lodge. The bed was a bit uncomfortable but that may have just been my back, the rest of the family didn't complain. The only reason that Churchwood doesn't get 5 stars is the accessibility, I realise there is not much they can do about this but everywhere is such a drive! The roads on site are very rustic and were not constructed for the size of todays cars . We were aware of this when we booked (twice) and it didn't put us off but the added distance and site roads has made our decision not to come back for us.
