Churchwood Valley Holiday Cabins
Sleeps
up to 6 |
2 Bedroom |
Suitable for Families | WIFI Available | Pet Friendly | Instant Booking |
Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.
Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.
There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.
This modern style of lodge has light and spacious interiors and provides a high level of creature comforts, such as dishwashers, washing machines and a TV with DVD player. The Churchwood Lodge can sleep up to six and has one double room, one twin room and a double bed settee in the lounge. Bath or shower. Sliding patio doors enhance the views of the valley over the decking patio.
A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.
If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.
There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

Lodge in beautiful natural, peaceful environment, although other lodges there, quite a lot if privacy between. So close to other environments like the meadow with stream and beach with rock pools and woody walks. Cafe and toilets on beach.

Clean, comfortable, peaceful, all kitchen utensil required where there. Beautiful views. Short walk to the beach. Eco friendly. Great rock pooling and body boarding.

I have been coming to Churchwood Valley with family on and off since the mid ‘80s and this is a place I never tire of. The lack of artificial noise, cars and sirens and aircraft is a pleasure to miss. With amenities a short drive into Plymouth or alternatively the tranquility of living among the trees and relaxing on a beautiful beach this I have always felt is the place to unwind and simply be!

The size of our family has slowly grown and it is so lovely share the wonders of Wembury with new family members and dear friends who come along for an Easter break. We thoroughly enjoy our evening walk down onto the beach to cook our evening meal on an open fire and watch the stars. A very special place.

We have stayed at Churchwood several times over many years and find it a perfect wind-down, relaxing and tranquil place to stay. Cabins are clean and very well maintained, a great credit to the owners and staff who maintain them and their surroundings. Our cabin on this holiday was superb. On the previous visit (last year during heat wave!!) it was just my wife and I, but our son and dog came with us this time so we opted for this bigger cabin and it was superb! There were a few steps to climb, but we had great views across the valley and just a short 5 minute walk down to the beach and the coastal path (to Yealm River one way, or towards Plymouth the other). Holidays are special times, and sometimes bright lights and nightlife are what you want, but for a totally relaxing, back to nature battery recharge I thoroughly recommend Churchwood

On entering the park we were met with a friendly welcome from one of the staff. The cabins are nestled amongst the trees in their own private space. The hills valley opposite was scattered with horses grazing peacefully, a scene I remember well since my last visit 39 years ago. It was a view I adored! Our cabin was a DL6. It was warm, spacious, bright, and spotlessly clean. It had everything we needed for our week's stay. There is a dog walking area that is grassed for those with dogs and there are lots of walks to be had. The bay is breathtaking with the little stone cafe, which serves lovely food, and the church proudly sits on the hill. The sea is clear and great for a swim and the coastal walk was also very beautiful. It is so lovely and quiet here too. We settled in very well and will definitely be back!

Would have been helpful to have some hooks in main area to hang coats etc. also a large non stick frying pan/casserole dish and sharp knife for making dinners for family of six. Other than that perfect!

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Churchwood Valley, our first proper holiday in 3 years. Our cabin had everything we needed and was very comfortable. It was very peaceful and you hardly noticed any other guests who were staying there. The shop was very well equipped and reasonably priced too. Wembury beach is very close and the Old Mill Cafe was brilliant, serving vegan foods as well as the usual. We loved the beach and the rock pools. We visited other areas nearby - Bigbury-on-sea, Salcombe and Dartmoor. We also made use of the ferry over to Plymouth which was great. Our 12 year old would recommend the indoor skate park - Prime in Plymouth too if you have all your own equipment. We hope to come back to Churchwood Valley and were really sad to be leaving.

This was our 3rd visit, we have family close by so this is a perfect location for us to see them and explore the beautiful area. The chalets are very well equipped and very clean. My only suggestions would be to update the bedding and curtains in some of the chalets... This was our 3rd visit, we have family close by so this is a perfect location for us to see them and explore the beautiful area. The chalets are very well equipped and very clean. My only suggestions would be to update the bedding and curtains in some of the chalets as they make the chalets appear more old fashioned than they need to. I think the shop should provide a self service coffee machine which provides a range of coffees and some fresh produce for breakfast like fresh croissants, pastries, bread, bacon rolls etc fresh fruit. The opening hours of the cafe on the beach do not provide an option for coffee until 10.30.
