Accepted Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.
Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.
There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.
This A6 Holiday cabin accommodates up to six people in two twin bedrooms and a double sofa bed in the lounge. It also has a bathroom with bath and shower/shower only. This unit has a modern kitchen with a good sized fridge-freezer and microwave. A TV and DVD player are provided to add some cosy entertainment to your stay. Providing high levels of affordable comfort, this cabin is located in a popular part of the site, and has a secluded patio with views across the valley.
A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.
If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.
There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

Lovely walk to Noss Mayo, short ferry ride and lunch at the Swan inn …… walk the other direction and lunch at Haybrook bay they are both lovely days out. The restaurant in Wembury itself is well worth a visit.A drive to Mountbatten point and ferry across to the Barbican is also a great day out, so much to do in the area, as well as a beautiful beach with a good coffee at the mill. The chalet was clean and well presented, needed a full length mirror, the bedroom in 1 church walk could do with a rethink, no bedside table, bed against the wall access via bottom of the bed, not ideal. Other units we have stayed in have the beds the other way round so easy access and room for bedside table/cabinet.

I chose this accommodation option as its close to Plymouth Marina - we had a boat trip booked. However, we were presented with a very pleasant surprise! The units are nestled into the side of a hill and in perfect harmony with nature. It's a very short walk to the beach and a beautiful coastal path. If you're staying in the area I can highly recommend Churchwood Valley.

I have been coming to Churchwood for 45 years and this time we had the 5th generation of our family with us to enjoy it. The location is perfect, the cabins comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean on arrival. They are not all accessible for elderly or disabled people but the staff are very helpful in choosing a suitable one when booking. It is so quiet and peaceful here with only the occasional owl to disturb you at night.

Church wood valley was the perfect holiday location for our family, we have a little girl who is obsessed with nature. The quiet nature friendly setting was a perfect way for her to spend a week, we loved the cabin as it had everything you need for a comfortable stay, the beds were comfortable and the shower was perfect. Only a short walk to the beach which we ended up going to twice a day everyday, for early morning painting to evening sea glass hunting, finding starfish in the rock pools and walking up to the church for the sunset views. With Plymouth only 20 minutes away we had all that a city has to offer but it felt like complete serenity at the cabin. Another favourite of my daughter was sitting at the table and painting pictures of the birds who came to visit the bird table. We will definitely return and have already recommended it to family.
Thank you so much for your great review, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay.

We have been to Churchwood before & wouldn’t hesitate to return again as the site & location is perfect for a quiet break away with family, with a fabulous beach walk along the coast just a short walk down the road. The site shop sells everything you could possibly need & the cabins are spotlessly clean & comfortable but are very basic & smell a little musty & damp, so if you are looking for luxury they’re not for you. The staff are all very helpful & friendly.

This was our second visit and everything was as we expected. A great base for South Devon.

The chalets are a delight. Inside they are furnished with solid wood furniture (as opposed to cheap self-assembled kits in most holiday sites). They are clean, tastefully decorated with a good views of the peaceful Churchwood valley. They are only a short walk from Wembry beach and beautiful, long coastal walks in all directions. There are even a horse-riding stables near, from which I understand guests can experience pony-trekking at a discount when staying at Churchwood. The service from the staff was excellent. The shop is small, but well stocked, and there is a laundry room too. There are also some really nice country pubs within walking distance.
