Accepted Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.
Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.
There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.
This Churchwood-built cabin accommodates up to four people in two twin bedrooms and has a bath with shower over/walk in shower. This unit has a well equipped kitchen with a good sized fridge-freezer and microwave. A TV and DVD player are provided to add some cosy entertainment to your stay. Providing high levels of affordable comfort, this cabin is located in a popular part of the site, and has a secluded patio with views across the valley.
A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.
If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.
There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

Log cabins hidden in a valley of trees very basic and no frills but more than adequate for a comfy stay. Clean. Dog friendly with lots of dog walks. Worth noting Wembury beach is a no dog beach between March and October but if you park at the old stables you can walk around the coast path to a small rocky dog friendly beach. If you want to escape and spend time away from the world this is the place to go and if you get bored Plymouth is only ten minutes away

Location was great! Plymouth accessible by 10 min car ride and then the water taxi. The beautiful beach with its horses was a 5 min stroll!! Great place for rockpooling!! There is a pub (the odd wheel) and play park within a 20 min walk. The fish platter is an absolute must!!!! I’d definitely come back. The only thing I’d not give it a 5th star for is the explanation on the site re what amenities there are. You do literally have to bring everything food wise with you ie salt and pepper. I know this is very minute and i would give 4 3/4 stars if i could but hopefully it helps future attendees.

I was booked for Bungalow. But it was allocated for cabin 2 twin bed rooms. Even we haven't got the one queen bed for couple. TV size is very small which is equal to standard Book size.We were given one Tissue role for 4 Days Stay and 2 plates for 4 people. There is no Toys and playing items for the children's. There is No BBQ area which mentioned in the photo. The rooms are different from the photo. It is not properly maintained. Roads are very narrow and very hard the new drivers.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a further review, but I regret that we can only reiterate the comments we made previously in response, and indeed in person when you came to the office to let us know of your issues. We have previously explained that you were allocated the 2 twin bedded cabin, which is what you had booked. We showed you a Pine Lodge/Bungalow with one double and one twin room and although you could have moved to this cabin type instead, you opted to stay in the cabin which you had booked. You also asked us about the children's toys and games and we showed you the Information Room where these items were available to be borrowed. We explained at the time that your cabin was self catering and if you wished to purchase any items for use at the cabin then you could do so at our shop.We do not recall that you had any raised any issue with the number of plates (your cabin was equipped for 4) or the size of the TV , but had you done so at the time then we could have addressed this, and you could have hired a BBQ from us for use at your patio, if you had asked us . Lastly, whilst we would concur that the roads are narrow, this is very typical of Devon, but to address your other comment- we cannot agree that our photos are misleading in any way. It's always disappointing to us when we have guests who aren't delighted with their experience of holidaying with us but on this occasion we feel that despite our best efforts, our park simply wasn't for you and your family.

The great customer service made sure we had everything we needed for our short notice booking. It is a really beautiful and peaceful setting and the lodge felt private and secluded. It was really clean and the beds were very comfortable. We even managed to extend our stay and the team were extremely helpful and accommodating

I have stayed at Churchwood for the last two with my mum and daughters. It was a place I used to visit with my grandparents when I was little. The beech is a 10 minute walk away which is lovely as quite small with a fantastic cafe on the beech front.Churchwood is nice and quiet with so much nature around you feel like you are living in the woods. The cabins are a little dated and could do with a some modernising but sometimes that adds to the quaintness of the place. Will definitely stay again.

At No 1 high road , we were lucky enough to have parking right outside the door….very suitable for” senior” people.the cabin was beautifully equipped and clean. Any questions were very helpfully answered by delightful staff.Because of the steepness of the site, guests should be mobile enough to be able to walk to the beach. However, the NT and free Churchwood car parks are easy to access.A very enjoyable week thank you.

A quiet pleasant place with beautiful views. Nature varies from horses, cows and sheep along the coastal path, to insects, newts and a host of creatures to be seen. Birds too. It's a wonderous place, nice to sit on the beach and read or just gaze at the sea rolling in. Lovely sunsets too. There's a bus too that takes you to Plymouth. A double decker ride is an experience to witness how the driver negoiates the narrow lanes. Good value for money. To me after quite some years, it's home from home.

We have been regular visitors for at least 20 years. The cabins are well maintained and if anything does stop working it is sorted out quickly and efficiently. The area has plenty of places for walking and access to the beach is very quick. The site shop has a good range for any topping up or if anything has been forgotten and the opening times are good. Dogs are welcomed and over the years all of my dogs have enjoyed the change of scene and especially the beach. The ferry over the Plymouth Sound is a much more scenic route in to Plymouth and it even takes dogs. Cornwall is just a short drive away. A very lovely place with plenty of wildlife to watch.

A Christmas break which we have done before. despite the inclement weather our stay was as always fabulous. Its lovely to breathe in clean air and to watch nature in the meadow below our cabin. Staff are always excellent and the Christmas tree , a box of fudge and biscuits (complimentary) are a very nice touch and make the stay special. We have been visiting Churchwood on and off since 1969 and loved it. Its great that they accept dogs too as our dog loves the lovely walks. We have already booked for Summer!
