Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.
Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.
There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.
This compact cabin is great for two people and comes with a twin bedroom and shower cubicle.
The cabin also comes with a modern fitted kitchen with integrated appliances, an under-counter fridge and microwave, and a TV with DVD player. Located in the centre of the site, this A2 cabin has a peaceful and private patio and is frequently visited by wildlife on the park.
A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.
If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.
There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

I have been staying at Churchwood Valley for many years & always found it to be a relaxing place in a peaceful setting. Although not the owners fault, my stay this time was rather marred by a very loud crow scarer going off at regular intervals during the day & indeed one night ( which was resolved). I also found the halogen hob impossible to use despite following the instructions. Fortunately there was a microwave! However I still had an enjoyable holiday. The staff are always friendly & helpful. The beach cafe is very good & there are lovely walks along the coast path in both directions.

I had been wanting to stay with you for ages, and the opportunity arose this October. The log cabin was perfect, with comfortable beds, superb heating and hot water when needed, and very well equipped with everything we would need for a peaceful holiday break. We enjoyed the bell ringing practice wafting through the sweet chestnut trees on Wednesday evening, and the sound of the owls on the other nights. The weather was perfect, so that we could explore the coast path in both directions, and then come back for a lunch at the beach cafe. We took home from the Churchwood valley shop some of their honey from the hives on the site. Such low airmiles! My husband has poor mobility, but still could manage the paths and steps and the walk to the beach. It is a holiday where you don't need the car.

I have stayed at Churchwood Valley a couple of times now and enjoy every moment in the fully equiped cabin and tranquil surroundings. Its proximity to the beach and coastal paths is great. A perfect winter break too! The staf are very friendly and welcoming and very quick to respond to any queries. I look forward to my next stay here.

We have been coming to Churchwood since we were married, and my husband as a child - so over 60 years for him and 45 for me! It is a lovely place just to chill, relax and recharge, but close to Devons attractions if you want to go out. The only thing that lets the cabin we stayed in down was the futon seating which is badly worn and uncomfortable to sit in. This was a A4 cabin so it possibly would have been needed, but now it is an A2 it would be nice to have a proper settee or couple of comfy chairs!

Had such a relaxing time in peaceful surroundings. The cabin wasn't overlooked, just surrounded by trees & nature. It was the perfect base for our days out. We are looking forward to returning next year

Been visiting for several years now at different times of the year. The weather was a bit extreme this time, so we were rather limited on our usual expeditions. . However, the cabin whilst basic was clean and warm and beds comfortable. The staff are very helpful and the site was well maintained. As always, we had a relaxing break away from the madding crowd. Our little dogs love Churchwood. Not sure who the land owners are, maybe National Trust but the pathway from the road, through the nature walk down towards the beach, needs some attention as it is becoming rather difficult to negotiate. The heavy rains haven't helped, loosening the bricks and stones.

Starry nights and owl calls- magical.Overall good value for money.Great place to relax and unwind.Cabin clean and tidy. Only negative was tv way too small although this wasn’t a big issue as hardly watched it.Location is fantastic. So much to do within the area.Sunsets at Jennycliffe( 10 mins drive) are amazing. Will be returning next year!!

The site is lovely, but I would impress on people to read your access route carefully and not rely on their 'Sat Nav'. We made this mistake and arrived via very narrow lanes! The staff are very friendly and helpful and the small chalet was very clean and contained all that we needed.
