Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.
Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.
There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.
This compact cabin is great for two people and comes with a twin bedroom and shower cubicle.
The cabin also comes with a modern fitted kitchen with integrated appliances, an under-counter fridge and microwave, and a TV with DVD player. Located in the centre of the site, this A2 cabin has a peaceful and private patio and is frequently visited by wildlife on the park.
A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.
If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.
There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

The site is a lovely setting and very convenient for walks and the beach. The cabins however need updating although clean and all amenities provided

Having come here a couple of years ago for a week we decided to come again for two weeks this time and it hasn't changed much, still the friendly staff, lovely environment and peaceful area. The cabin was clean, beds made and all our kitchen equipment looked new, WiFi was great.Had lots of days out walking to the coast and back through Wembury to the local pub, short drives to other coastal walks and caught the ferry to Plymouth and also Cornwall. The weather was a bonus as well.We also had some visitors saying hello, squirrels, bats and hedgehogs. Hopefully we will come back again soon.

The Steff are very helpfulEverything is carefully cleaned and prepared on arrivalWould be nice to have a few more dishes cutlery etc -only 2 of everything for 2 person chalet. The beds were very comfortable. Quite hilly but So lovely to be able to walk easily to the special National Trust Wembury beach. I spent a happy afternoon trying to identify trees - (list of trees on the site would be lovely to have to see if I got them right!)

Our third visit to Churchwood Valley. A beautiful, peaceful wooded valley. Close to Wembury beach and lovely walks. Plymouth city near by and not far from Salcombe and Bigbury on Sea.Small but comfortable accommodation. Nicely equipped and very clean. Onsite staff friendly and helpful.

Loved the cabin for two. Facilities excellent with cleaning products included.. Hamper bought for arrival ideal for basics items. Visited the beach , small but ideal.Took my two daschounds who loved it but on patio area had to be careful they didnt fall in the over growth of trees..Ideally i would love more fencing to give dogs more protection. This holiday I enjoyed but not for the faint hearted, there are alot of uphill wallking..

We have been to Churchwood many times over the years ...excellent value for money always relaxing and peaceful. We prefer a cabin where the opposite side of the valley(houses!) Isn't so visible so avoid Middle Rd 6 if you feel the same .The cabins are always clean , decor and fittings variable

This is our second time (stayed last year) staying here it’s so peaceful and relaxing just listening to the wildlife around you. You need a car to get around as it is quite hilly and I can’t walk far without getting a little breathless. There are lots of walks around and a beach fairly close with a cafe which I just about managed to walk to and back. The on site shop has all your basic needs and there is a small laundry room. If you are looking for very relaxing and peaceful (apart from the sound of the wildlife) then this is the place to come and unwind but saying that there is plenty to do if you want to get out and about. We just love Churchwood Valley and will be back next year 2026
