Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.
Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.
There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.
This compact cabin is great for two people and comes with a double bedroom equipped with a bath and shower room. The cabin also comes with a modern fitted kitchen with integrated appliances, an under counter fridge and microwave, and a TV with DVD player. Located in the centre of the site, this A2 cabin has a peaceful and private patio and is frequently visited by wildlife on the park.
A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.
If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.
There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

We have stayed at Church wood Valley several times in recent years and have always enjoyed the peaceful woodland setting, but on our latest stay we were also pleased with the improved cooking and bathroom facilities and smart decoration. It is an ideal setting for nature walks and enjoying the natural environment . Wembury Bay is an easy nearby walk and a visit there always offers new sights and experiences.

Been going to churchwood for forty years so obviously I’m biased. The location is perfect for the beach, walks along the coast and of course the fantastic the cafe on the beach.Staff are always friendly and helpful. It for us is where we go to reset in beautiful surroundings and peace. You can also arrive on any day for as long as you need which is perfect if you don’t want to travel on a Friday or Saturday. If mobility is an issue the lower cabins would be better,I do wonder how long I’ll be able to climb those hills 🤣🤣

A very pleasant week`s holiday in lovely surroundings and quiet location. The cabin was very clean and suitable for us with adequate facilities. We found the approach lane daunting at first with its narrow turns and corners but practice made it easier !The staff were very helpful and friendly .We found plenty of interest in the area ie Dartmoor, plymouth, Exeter and the Wembury environs as well as small villages around. Value for money .

Lovely situation with cabins built up a hillside over different levels amongst the trees. Very peaceful to totally relax. Cabins have everything you need and were very clean on arrival. Thoroughly enjoyed exploring the local area. Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo are very pretty. Excellent food at The Ship Inn. Lovely walk the other way to Heybrook Bay with an excellent lunch at Eddystone Inn. The Odd Wheel is walkable from the site and once again we had an excellent meal there. Plymouth is close by with excellent places to eat. Overall a fab holiday!

Accessibilité: pas facile. Heureusement le schéma du trajet vers la fin nous a aidés. Région très intéressante. Plymouth: visite enrichissante.

Stayed in an A2 cabin on High Road with a breathtaking view of the valley. Beach is only a short walk away (but steep hill so you will need to be fit if going on foot). Nature right on your doorstep, some rare birds and butterflies about if you stop and watch. If you did want a break from the beach trek there is still plenty to do and see. Pro tip is to go out and watch the stars.Cabin was adorable, a little small perhaps but came with everything we needed for a self catering trip; pots, pans, microwave, fridge with freezer, utensils, a sofa and TV. I found the bed to be very comfy and a decent size. The bath and shower facilities were totally fine and no different to what I have at home. It is a cabin in the woods, so be prepared for occasional spiders, moths and flies. The shop was surprisingly well stocked, they even had vegan and vegetarian food in the freezer. The staff were really friendly. All in all I would have expected to pay a lot more for a holiday of this quality.

The cabins have everything that you need. They are cosy in the wind and rain , and you can sit outside in the sunshine. The little shop has the basics things that you may need but lots of shops, pub and places to eat in the area. Lots of great walks for us and our two dogs, that love to go on the doggy beach ( not the main one) it quite and peaceful where you can watch and hear the wildlife. Just a great base for your holiday.

Staff friendly & attentive,sofa-uncomfortable, no support, when we arrived the lodge was very dusty on walls in bedroom & was musty smelling Hot water was dangerously scolding hot, could do with a limiter on it.WIFI-non existent
Thank you for your review, although we are obviously disappointed that you weren't completely happy with some aspects of your stay. We would like to address the issues which you raised, firstly, our WIFI. It can be somewhat patchy, it's because of our location, but having said that, we can often help if a guest lets us know that they are having difficulties. If you had made us aware at the time, we would certainly have resolved your issues with the hot water and the seating arrangements, and attended to any areas where you felt that our housekeeping had been lacking. We are sorry that you weren't delighted by your experience of Churchwood, but thank you once again for your feedback.
