Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.
Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.
There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.
This compact cabin is great for two people and comes with a double bedroom and shower cubicle.
The cabin also comes with a modern fitted kitchen with integrated appliances, an under-counter fridge and microwave, and a TV with DVD player. Located in the centre of the site, this A2 cabin has a peaceful and private patio and is frequently visited by wildlife on the park.
A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.
If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.
There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

Happiness is entering a spotlessly clean cabin and finding peace. The locating of the cabins in a wooded hillside was an excellent idea as one is surrounded with beauty and the sound of birdsong. My husband I first visited in 1961 and we have returned many times to this idyllic place. One cannot fault the friendliness of the staff and their desire to make the holiday perfect in every way. It is extremely good value for money. Ordering a welcome pack and towels helps a lot, it makes life easier. Our holiday was just lovely and we wouldn't change a thing!

Everything was good, Cabins had everything we wanted for a relaxing stay, but being a big guy, I found the shower enclosure a bit tight for size to be a bit picky & although we didnt actually do much cooking other than breakfast, we noticed the large hob ring didnt heat up properly but it didnt spoi our lovely week! Beautiful walks to local beach & good cafe. Other attractions & shops just 15 mins away by car has everything most folks need really, we had a wonderful stay !

Disneyland claims to be the happiest place on Earth. It isn't - Churchwood Valley is. We have been coming to Churchwood Valley since 1978. The peace and tranquility is heavenly. The valley location shelters the cabins and outside spaces from any coastal wind - we have just spent our weekend sitting quietly, bathed in warm sunshine, in early November. The beach is wonderful for rock-pooling when the tide is out, and surfing when its in! The cliff walks are bracing in the autumn weather. The charming cabins are spotlessly clean, thoughtfully designed and well stocked. There is a small shop and a laundry on site and Reception is always friendly and helpful, and there are three very good local pubs to visit. Long may we continue to enjoy Churchwood Valley!
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us this lovely review!

The lodge was clean and very well equipped. Very private and in beautiful natural settings, we had a visit from an inquisitive squirrel and a pheasant popped onto our decking to say hello.A short walk to the beach. All the staff were very polite, helpful and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble.Only negative was it smelt musty when we arrived and was cold, maybe putting on the heating prior to arrival would have helped

Delightful, peaceful surroundings. Feeling as if you are truly in the heart of a wood made this a special place for a tranquil escape. The accommodation was simple but comfortable and clean, and the large windows offered a beautiful outlook.Very friendly staff and easy parking. The little shop is a useful facility. The beautiful coast is only a short distance away offering walks, beaches and local history during all seasons.Overall, I think Churchwood offers value for money.

Churchwood Valley is just Magical! We first visited in 1990 when our children were small and have tried to come back every few years whenever we can. The cabins are very comfortable and cosy and you have everything you could possibly need for a really enjoyable stay. Our cabin was spotless, the location was super and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly! The site itself is very peaceful and a real break from the stresses of everyday life. We parked our car on arrival and it did not move until the day we left as we decided to walk to all the local scenic spots! The coastline there is just beautiful and it's well worth the walk.We tried The Odd Wheel, The Mussel Inn and the Eddystone Inn and can honestly say all the meals we had were superb and we would highly recommend them all.It was a lovely break for us after a rather difficult year so a big THANK YOU to all of the Family and staff who work so very hard to keep the site in such excellent condition for us.
