Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.
Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.
There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.
The pine Lodge is a 2-bedroom lodge that provides a compact and stylishly comfortable accommodation! Beautifully designed, Pine Lodges sleep four guests in one double and one twin bedroom. There is a spacious open plan living area, a fully equipped kitchen with oven, fridge and microwave. Patio doors leading to a private patio area ensure great views of wildlife as well as the surrounding scenery.
A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.
If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.
There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

I have been to churchwood many times and every time I have enjoyed it. It's so peaceful and tranquil. For me having been so many times it's like going home to visit family.

Wow what a wonderful 3 days we spent at Churchwood Valley. From the moment we arrived, the staff were so friendly and helpful. We stayed at number 18, parking was right next to our lodge, it was also level ground to the front door which was great as I have mobility issues. The cabin was so clean and comfortable, I wanted to take the sofa home!!! They provide you with a file which has all the information you would need regarding your lodge, it also has information about local doctors, vets, dentist, taxi etc.So peaceful and quiet. We have been telling everyone about and will hopefully be back.

My first impression unfortunately wasn't good. We picked up our map and key from reception which was closed. This wouldn't have been an issue except we ended up at the wrong lodge as we could only see one of our number on the map (it hadn't been circled..this would have helped massively). So we carted half of our bags with my 80 year old parents up steep steps to what we thought was our lodge to find the key didn't fit. When we found our correct lodge I opened the door to a foisty smell which was not a good first impression. I immediately opened all windows and put on the heating and fire which did get rid of the smell. However each time we went out and returned the smell was there again and we had to go through the same procedure. Aside from this we found the lodge to be fine for our needs, a long weekend visiting my daughter in Plymouth. We also enjoyed a walk from the site onto the South West coastal path which was lovely. The lodge was well-equipped and the beds comfortable

On arrival the reception staff were Friendly and helpful. The accommodation was clean and as described. It was quite basic but had a Mira shower in the bathroom and there was everything needed with lots of nice homely touches. The wooded valley is a lovely peaceful haven leading down to a nice beach with lots of rock pools, toilets and a cafe. The on site shop was a handy place to top up with supplies such as bread and wine.

We loved the location. The cabin was well equipped but we found the sofa and bed very hard. It was peaceful and surrounded by nature. The staff are so friendly and helpful, it was refreshing! Despite the hard couch and beds, we would stay again. I think that says it all really.

We wanted a peaceful break, close to natural surroundings. That’s what we got. Lodge was perfect. So clean and with everything we needed. Genuinely friendly and helpful staff and had a pleasant chat with the owners. We don’t drive but it was relatively easy to get there by taxi and so many beautiful walks . The site shop was all sensibly priced and always someone in hand to help in any way. Looking to book next spring hopefully.
