Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.

Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.

There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.

Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.

This compact cabin is great for two people and comes with a twin bedroom and shower cubicle.

The cabin also comes with a modern fitted kitchen with integrated appliances, an under-counter fridge and microwave, and a TV with DVD player. Located in the centre of the site, this A2 cabin has a peaceful and private patio and is frequently visited by wildlife on the park.

A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.

If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.

There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

Stayed in the A2 cabin which is ideal for two people has everything you need. Own place to park outside water pressure very good plenty of hot water we personally found accessibility better if you go to the bottom of mewstone Ave head towards Wembury beach and turn right and approach via the back end of the site. Very clean cabin staff very helpful Wembley beach is great went to two restaurants odd wheel and eddystone inn. Plymouth is only 53 miles to Newquay Cornwall. So if the weather is not to good in Devon it’s sometimes better in Cornwall

"Lovely to return and find it all still unspoilt. Wonderful to see and hear the birds and to be so near the bay."

The staff were friendly and informative. The shop provides basic needs and charming, locally produced gifts. The cabin held just what we needed in the way of living space. Plenty of crockery, cutlery and so on for 2 people Lovely to have the bird table and patio. Accessibility by road and on foot is fine, but being on terraces on a steep hill, it always takes longer to walk back from the beach than it does to walk down to the beach! The Old Mill Cafe serves great sandwiches, pasties and a variety of hot and cold drinks. The Marine Centre is wonderfully interactive now, really engages young and old visitors. And it's free of charge! Donations are gratefully received. Wembury Bay Riding stables are very helpful and have a good selection of horses to ride, to suit the expertise of the visitor. Good instructor as well as kind assistant. Wouldn't change a thing! Please don't change Churchwood Val

The welcome pack you pay for was well worth the money.. loved the cream tea also paid for.! Was a lovely addition The accessibility to the beach was second to none.. with the cafe and little shop it was well worth the trip alone.. if you fancy a beach holiday this is the place I’m sure it will fill up but it was a warm/hot day and not too bad at all! We walked to the quieter shingle beach that’s dog friendly so we could go into the rock puddles and explore.. the dog walks were also great too..

Our hut was exactly as described and absolutely spotless. It was simple but very cosy and comfortable, with everything we needed. The outside seating area was a bonus, as was the shop and information room. Everyone I spoke to, from enquiring about booking, to during our stay was friendly, helpful and welcoming. The location is just beautiful and it feels so remote but still easily accessible for all on offer locally. There are some lovely walks nearby, Wembury beach is great for rock pooling and the village has a little shop and great playground. Wembury Church is gorgeous and we were able to look inside which was just as impressive. Hopefully we can come back next year and explore some more.

First visit and first time in a log cabin. We were not disappointed. Everything you could possibly need during your stay was provided even down to toilet paper. The cabin had a lovely decor, and was spotless on arrival. A short 15 minute stroll and we were at the beach. The views were beautiful. The on-site shop catered for all our needs and the staff were lovely. Although it was a short drive there were many other things to do out and about. Nearby ferry service was great for our trip across to Plymouth and at only £2.60 pp it was much cheaper than driving and trying to find parking. All in all our stay was great and will definitely book again in the future.

Having visited in the past a teenager and again in 2021 with my wife I knew what to expect upon arrival. A clean, tidy cabin with all you would need to a short break away. I booked a small cabin and was delighted to have been given one that was tucked out the way in an older part of the site. Absolute bliss to be away from it all for a few days in a lovely setting. Really couldn't have asked or wanted for more and I had a very enjoyable stay. Planning on coming back in 2024 with my wife and two pups for which we will be looking at booking a larger lodge. Have recommended Churchwood Valley to some of our friends who we know would appreciate the site, its location and surroundings and the general ambiance that only Churchwood Valley can provide. A holiday like it should be......time to switch off and recharge.
