Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.
Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.
There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.
This compact cabin is great for two people and comes with a double bedroom and shower cubicle.
The cabin also comes with a modern fitted kitchen with integrated appliances, an under-counter fridge and microwave, and a TV with DVD player. Located in the centre of the site, this A2 cabin has a peaceful and private patio and is frequently visited by wildlife on the park.
A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.
If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.
There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

If you are looking to get away from it all, Churchwood Valley is the place - it is secluded and really quiet (all you can hear is birds), set in amongst trees and nature and only a 10 minute walk to the sea, just beautiful. Cabins are well equipped and very clean, the A2 is compact but ideal as a base to explore the surrounding coastal walks of only one or two of you.Definitely not for those that struggle with walking up and down hills though, some very steep hills (and steps) both within and outside of the setting, worth taking into account.when planning your holiday.

Churchwood Valley is an enchanting place to stay. We stayed in a one bedroom lodge which had everything you need.Plenty of storage and good kitchen with microwave, oven etc. our lodge had a car parking space outside. The only negative from my husband was that the shower was a bit small, but was ok for me!We would definitely return, but to a place with a shower over a bath maybe!

Beautiful location where the River Yealm meets the sea, meaning great coastal walks in either direction with diverse terrain, wild flowers and views depending on whether you go towards Plymouth or towards the mouth of the river at Noss Mayor and Newton Ferrers. The site is unspoilt and well landscaped. We have previously bought parents here but stayed on Low Road for a more level walk to the beach. High Road is lovely for those with higher levels of fitness and have the feeling of being among the tree canopy.Staff are warm, welcoming, friendly but unobtrusive; just always there and responsive if you need them. They are a great team and very helpful.Cabins are basic but spotlessly clean, well-appointed and cared for.Highlights are The Eddystone Pub, The Mussel Inn at Down Thomas where World Pizza have a weekly mobile woodfired pizza van - fantastic!. Also love the pubs across the river and Bill the Boatman is a great character for river crossings. Millstone Cafe is a must.

Have been a few times, lovely location in acres of woodland and coastal walks. Came with 2 dogs, which is a great area for dog walking. Accommodation is basic, maybe a bit dated but very clean.

As if the lovely park, the friendly stuff, the nature around that alone would be enough, Churchwood valley provides a very close-to-nature experience which we used for a couple of days of downtime - where we enjoyed the local pubs and hiking trails.
