The Hideaway is a small, relaxed and friendly campsite ideal for Hobbit House glamping in Yorkshire. The campsite is in the midst of our 110 acre farm, surrounded by trees and bounded on one side by a stream. It is off the beaten track, but only a stroll from the village of Husthwaite. We like to go the extra mile for you so when you feel like something a little different or just don’t fancy packing up the car with that wet tent at the end of your holiday why not book yourself into one of our cosy Hobbit Houses?

With a PROPER double bed plus two single beds (one a bunk) in our luxury Yorkshire glamping Hobbit Houses plus “Up-cycled” outdoor furniture (chairs/benches and tables) made from wooden pallets and decking, fairy lights, plates, bowls, cutlery, mugs, glasses, BBQ tools, portable single gas stove, kettle, and cushions and throws not to mention your own Log-burner inside and your own private campfire outside- there’s quite a lot included!

We suggest bringing a frying pan or two (no pans provided) for those tasty local bacon and eggs in the morning, brought to you by our friendly local butcher - on site on Saturday mornings!!

You will need to bring your own bedding, (none supplied) it is so much nicer having your own pillow you’ve got to admit! It can get a little cool during the night (even in mid-summer) so bring a nice warm duvet.

Other items you will need to bring yourselves include; dishcloths, bag of tealights, and perhaps a gazebo to shelter in from the (rain!) sun.

Our Hobbit Houses have fairy lights and no electricity for the very same reasons mentioned above…

Each House also has its own fire-pit.

In the ideal location for your North Yorkshire Glamping break, The Hideaway is situated on land attached to a 708 year old medieval manor – Baxby Manor! Built in 1308 on the edge of Husthwaite village and nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, The Hideaway is conveniently just 17 miles from the historic city of York.

Mr B Miles - Stayed with family, Oct 2018

We stayed here on the way down to Center Parcs in Nottingham with the family in one of the Hobbit Houses. Great facilities, a friendly welcome and all in all a fantastic place to stay. The kids had a ball and can't wait to come back again.

The facilities are fantastic and there is so much to do in and around the area. This year we stayed in one of the new hobbit houses....... they are amazing. So much space in them and perfect for my 14 month old who thoroughly enjoyed her glamping trip. There is everything you need in the hobbit houses to make your holiday a good one from plates and cutlery to a gas stove and log burner and the beds are extremely comfy, slept very well. We were nice and cosy with the log burner going. Would highly recommend giving a hobbit house a try, the pods and tent pitches are fab too. Get booked up now 😊

We had one of the 5 hobbit houses and were lucky enough to be the only occupants! Not coming to Yorkshire for the weather, we got lucky.! Had three perfect days and nights. We were able to enjoy the benefits of the fire pit and the log burner. The beds were comfortable and hobbit houses adequately equipped. The facilities in the communal block was 2nd to none. Fabulous showers and washrooms, great pot wash area (with mobile phone charging point ) And a fantastic drying room, which in the cooler weather is excellent for drying towels. The idea of wearing overshoes in the shower rooms and the available J cloth's for wiping down basins kept the washrooms spotless, so well worth the effort . The Night skies in the Yorkshire moors are spectacular and we spent one evening laying on a picnic blanket stargazing. We did a short walk around the village, which was very pretty. (Directions available from the site office) . Plenty of things to see and do locally and close enough to York. (Suggest the park-and-ride). Look out for the reductions in September as this made our stay very reasonable. Thank you Barney for a lovely stay.

The fire pit cooking was a big hit and the kids loved toasting marshmallows. The facilities were lovely, warm and clean. The coffee can in the morning was great, especially with it being a crisp morning. The only thing we struggled with was lighting the fire in the hobbit house, when we spoke to our neighbours they also struggled. It was lighting but going out after approx 20mins!
