Mains Farm Caravan Site is a family run quiet touring park, set in the countryside well away from main roads, yet within easy reach of the Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish Borders.
Mains Farm offers a choice of 12 camping pods where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Eden Valley while glamping in the Lake District. Each pod includes electric, lighting, electric heater for cool winter nights, a porch for sitting out and a picnic bench for dining.
When staying at Mains farm we advise guests to bring everything they would bring to go camping - minus the tent!
Outstanding peaceful, rural location with spectacular views of the Eden Valley in Cumbria. Enjoy walks direct from the glamping site in the Lake District including a lovely, short riverside walk to the village of Kirkoswald, which has a shop, post office and a choice of two Inns. Ullswater is less than 15 miles away where you will find some fantastic walking routes. One of our favourite routes takes in Lacy's Caves and Long Meg Stone Cirle. The C2C cycle route is within 1 mile of the site and an 18 hole golf course is only a 10 minute drive away. There is an enclosed children's play area with swings and slides for those wanting a family glamping break in the Lake District or why not visit the Lazonby heated outdoor swimming pool from your glampsite at Mains Farm.

We stayed in a pod which was perfect for us. It was clean & very spacious (We managed to fit a double airbed, childs airbed & travel cot in, with a small space left to walk in/store bags). The park was a big hit with our little boy; plenty of things to play on, there was also a lot of space outside the pod for outdoor games without being in the way of neighbours. The only thing I would suggest anyone staying in a pod to bring, would be a fan if it was forecast for warm temp as we found the pod quite hot at night whilst we was there. We visited Abbott Lodge Jersey Ice Cream which is fab for kids if your looking for somewhere to go for a drive to without a huge day out - Loads of ice cream flavours to choose from & both indoor & outdoor parks for the children to burn their energy on! We also did Aira Force Waterfalls walk (about 1hour walk) which was lovely! & Pooley Bridge for food etc.We can’t wait to plan our next camping pod trip & will definitely be returning to Mains Farm!

Fantastic site run by top hosts Robert & Julie they were very welcoming, friendly & more than happy to help. We stayed in a pod in the orchard, which was in a good location on the site & had sun all day long. The site was very peaceful & tranquil you couldn't hear any traffic just wildlife, it was the relaxing weekend we needed, can't beat a brew whilst listening to the dawn chorus. The showers were clean & like power showers, super hot too, defo the best we've had at a campsite. There were communal microwaves, kettles, toasters, fridge & freezer available which were handy, the main attraction for me was the wild swimming in the river, just at the bottom of the field, with swimming pool steps to help you into the river & boy was it a sun trap perfect for a picnic. The onsite honesty shop was a lovely touch with plenty of selection at reasonable prices, a descent park area, volleyball/badminton net, football nets, WiFi area & some nice short walks in the area! Overall possibly the best

We visited Mains Farm for one night to see if the children enjoyed camping. We stayed in as POD and it was perfect for us. We enjoyed dining out on the picnic bench outside and the children absolutely loved playing on the park making friends. We drove into Lazonby to use the outdoor pool which was great fun and visited the local pub in the village. The children enjoyed it so much they are already asking when they can go again. Will definitely be returning.

Easy to find and in a great location. We stopped in the pods and I thought they were well laid out and not overcrowded . The kids had a great time and we all enjoyed the fire pit at the end of the day , all sat around it was great . The honest shop was a nice touch and the homemade cakes were delicious. Would I stop again ? 100 percent , It was awesome .

Had a lovely weekend in Penrith at Mains Farm. A beautiful, quiet site with great facilities. The camping pod was great, came with a heater, picnic bench and a storage box outside which was perfect for our bag of snacks and drinks. Plug sockets inside so really everything you needed. The mobile signal was even good enough for us to stream a family movie for the Friday night! Everyone on site was so welcoming, both the host Bridget and other campers. Lovely quiet site and we were able to fully relax. The children's play area was greatly appreciated by our son and the walk down to the river was very pleasant. Highly recommended a drive out to Long Meg and Her Daughters neolithic stone circle. Very atmospheric.

We love coming to this hard working farm. It’s always a warm welcome, never had any issues and it has the most wonderful setting with plenty locally to see and do.
