Mains Farm Caravan Site is a family run quiet touring park, set in the countryside well away from main roads, yet within easy reach of the Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish Borders.
Mains Farm offers a choice of 12 camping pods where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Eden Valley while glamping in the Lake District. Each pod includes electric, lighting, electric heater for cool winter nights, a porch for sitting out and a picnic bench for dining.
When staying at Mains farm we advise guests to bring everything they would bring to go camping - minus the tent!
Outstanding peaceful, rural location with spectacular views of the Eden Valley in Cumbria. Enjoy walks direct from the glamping site in the Lake District including a lovely, short riverside walk to the village of Kirkoswald, which has a shop, post office and a choice of two Inns. Ullswater is less than 15 miles away where you will find some fantastic walking routes. One of our favourite routes takes in Lacy's Caves and Long Meg Stone Cirle. The C2C cycle route is within 1 mile of the site and an 18 hole golf course is only a 10 minute drive away. There is an enclosed children's play area with swings and slides for those wanting a family glamping break in the Lake District or why not visit the Lazonby heated outdoor swimming pool from your glampsite at Mains Farm.

We had a lovely one night stay on the way to see friends in Scotland. Beautiful site, very clean and a warm welcome from the owners. I will.l definitely be back here again. Everything you need. The pods have a plug sockets and lights which was a bonus as we have stayed at other sites where the pods don't these.

I camped in a pod at Mains Farm with my 5 year old daughter. It was perfectly set up for a quick night away. The pod was located close to the play park and the hosts were very welcoming and helpful. We hired a camp fire and wood which made our little adventure extra special. The facilities were all close by, with everything we needed. We’d definitely stay again and recommend it to others.

This was a very last minute booking, I booked the first one I found on Pitchup.com and hoped for the best. We got very lucky because this campsite is amazing! My two boys had a blast and played with other kids on the play area all day/evening. The facilities are just what you would expect on a campsite, with an added bonus of kettles, toasters and a small fridge. There were plenty of toilets and showers. The pods are spread out enough so the campsite isn’t too cramped. I love that you are allowed campfires. We will definitely return, what a great find! Thank youIoana

We have just enjoyed yet another fabulous weekend stay at Main’s farm-with excellent facilities, understanding and helpful owners, a lovely walk along the river, outdoor swimming in a nearby village and space and time for everyone to just be!

Been to Mains farm before but our first time in a pod. It was just myself and my partner this time so didn't want the hassle of putting the tent up. It was brilliant. Plenty of room, and having a picnic bench was really handy. We stayed on one of the hottest weekends of the year- the pod was super hot during the day but had the window and door open for good airflow (a tent would of been of been worse!), but once the sun went down the pod was lovely and cool for a comfortable nights sleep. Really love how spaced out all the pods are, plenty of room between to not feel too close to neighbours. We would stay again with our 7year old but probably a squeeze for older/more kids but great for a couple. We took the dog and still plenty of room for our bags/food.

We stayed with friends and family in pods and absolutely loved it. The facilities are modern, clean and well maintained. The kids loved the playground. There's an honesty shop should you need a few bits and bobs. The pods are warm, clean and cozy. The walking nearby is great and you can dip in the river if you fancy. The site owners Robert and Julie are friendly and helpful, going out if their way for us. A hidden gem in the Eden Valley. We will definitely be back.

I have already recommended the campsite to family and friends. The owners were lovely, couldn’t have done more for us. The pods were great, clean. Definitely exceeded my expectations. Plenty of area for the children (and adults) to play, the park was great too.

Our second visit to Mains Farm, the first with caravan last year, so we knew the place and its ideal for a relaxing few days.Owners of site are fantastic and always there to help. Our pod had the added bonus of a plastic sheeting over it, a slight leak discovered, but it didn't spoil our stay.Close enough to Penrith for supplies, and a starting point to explore Ullswater and beyond.Place is so good, heading back there in August.
