Mains Farm Caravan Site is a family run quiet touring park, set in the countryside well away from main roads, yet within easy reach of the Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish Borders.
Mains Farm offers a choice of 12 camping pods where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Eden Valley while glamping in the Lake District. Each pod includes electric, lighting, electric heater for cool winter nights, a porch for sitting out and a picnic bench for dining.
When staying at Mains farm we advise guests to bring everything they would bring to go camping - minus the tent!
Outstanding peaceful, rural location with spectacular views of the Eden Valley in Cumbria. Enjoy walks direct from the glamping site in the Lake District including a lovely, short riverside walk to the village of Kirkoswald, which has a shop, post office and a choice of two Inns. Ullswater is less than 15 miles away where you will find some fantastic walking routes. One of our favourite routes takes in Lacy's Caves and Long Meg Stone Cirle. The C2C cycle route is within 1 mile of the site and an 18 hole golf course is only a 10 minute drive away. There is an enclosed children's play area with swings and slides for those wanting a family glamping break in the Lake District or why not visit the Lazonby heated outdoor swimming pool from your glampsite at Mains Farm.

This was the 3rd time staying at the campsite and it just as perfect as the other times. Nice and clean well kept site with nice walks on the doorstep. Really good value for money. Friendly owners made sure everything was perfect for us. Thank you and we hope to be back soon.

Thought the grass at the pods could have been shorter. I know it’s a working farm and it may be as it was nearly the end of the season the farmer was looking to use grass for silage but it is also a holiday spot so if the pods are still being rented out I think the area should still be kept in good order. Our pod did not have a table outside but all the others did. This was not tragic, but felt it was something that should have been checked before our arrival. The kitchen area around the microwave could have been cleaner e.g. cobwebs behind microwave,, microwave itself not as clean as it could have been. Ideally people using microwave should clean it after they have used it but I would have thought owners would check it between events.Did not think to take any photos of this.
We are sorry you did not enjoy your 6th stay at Mains Farm. It is normally our pride as to how we keep our pitches tidy with grass cutting and strimming etc. However, as the Dog Agility Event approached the weather was too wet to cut. The day before we took the decision not to cut the grass in the pod area. Mainly to avoid crass clippings being trodden into the Pods. Regarding the bench - I can only think it may have been 'borrowed' by one of the neighbouring Pod's.We take onboard your comments about the Microwave and will ensure it is added to the daily work sheet of our hard working girls.

A lovely setting. The pods are clean and the orchard field is lovely and peaceful. I enjoyed my stay. The only negative comment I had was the microwave in the shared kitchen was very dirty meaning I had to buy food rather than using the food I have brought with me. But other it was lovely. Great walks nearby, and a good location. With very helpful staff.
Thank you for taking the time to review Lynsey and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay.

This is our 2nd time staying in the Pod accommodation at Mains Farm and we love it. Easy to get to, straight forward check in with very helpful and friendly welcomings. We're left to our own devices whilst on site, so long as respect is shown to the facilities and other holidaying families. My little boy (6yr old) loves it here and wants to return as soon as. It was the first time taking our pup too, who also loved the environment and the local walks with the short travel into Pooley Bridge. This is a place we will be attending yearly, somewhat start a little tradition for my boy, in a place we feel safe and are able to make amazing memories. Thank you for the stay 🙂Emma, Jaxon and Vanessa the pup. Even Brough Nanna along this time too, who wants to come back.

We had a lovely few days away in one of the camping pods. It was very clean and I felt warm and safe in the evenings. The site was great for my son to play and we really enjoyed it.
