Mains Farm Caravan Site is a family run quiet touring park, set in the countryside well away from main roads, yet within easy reach of the Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish Borders.

Mains Farm offers a choice of 12 camping pods where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Eden Valley while glamping in the Lake District. Each pods includes electric, lighting, electric heater for cool winter nights, a porch for sitting out and a picnic bench for dining.

When staying at Mains farm we advise guests to bring everything they would bring to go camping - minus the tent!

Outstanding peaceful, rural location with spectacular views of the Eden Valley in Cumbria. Enjoy walks direct from the glamping site in the Lake District including a lovely, short riverside walk to the village of Kirkoswald, which has a shop, post office and a choice of two Inns. Ullswater is less than 15 miles away where you will find some fantastic walking routes. One of our favourite routes takes in Lacy's Caves and Long Meg Stone Cirle. The C2C cycle route is within 1 mile of the site and an 18 hole golf course is only a 10 minute drive away. There is an enclosed children's play area with swings and slides for those wanting a family glamping break in the Lake District or why not visit the Lazonby heated outdoor swimming pool from your glampsite at Mains Farm.

"Another fabulous break at Mains Farm"

We have been visiting Mains Farm for many years now and really love the area, the site and the ever helpful Robert and Julie. Nothing is too much trouble for them - even a lift to the pub! The Eden Valley as a location is quite superb of course with the picturesque village of Kirkoswald on your doorstep and the Settle to Carlisle Railway across the valley at Lazonby. Great choice of pubs nearby serving excellent food, useful facilities such as the CooP in Lazonby and its only a short hop to Penrith for some serious shopping. You are really only a short hop from Keswick and the Norh Lakes but that short distance makes the Eden Valley so much more peaceful, and beatiful in my view. Mains Farm is a great camp site with all the facilities you could wish for. We have camped and stayed in the pods on numerous occasions and can thoroghly recommend the private bathroom option. We can't wait until our next trip and hope to be at the next music festival in 2021, Covid permitting of course.

Planned to go for a walk to Lacy’s caves but we all decided to stay in the local pub down the road instead. Site was good not a great deal to do unless you plan a day out but for the night it was perfect. We all agreed we would come back again as we really enjoyed bbq and fire pit sitting out in the evening.

We were greeted with a huge dog poo outside our pod and that wasn't the end of the poo....i covered it over and told our two children not to go near it as we unpacked our car from a long journey. I dont have dogs for that reason so i had no means of picking it up and im not the type to complain or make a fuss. Our stay was great Rob was very helpful and friendly and making sure we were comfortable, even gave us a mattress when our airbed went down. On our last day on our way home. I got a call from an unknown number. It was JULIE who owns the camp.. her words were " DID YOU KNOW, ONE OF YOUR CHILDREN HAD A POO OUTSIDE AND YOU HAVE LEFT IT THERE" . Gobsmacked wouldn't even be the best description, there were toilets a two second walk away and my children are old enough to speak and use the toilet and have obviously been brought up with manners and respect. Unlike the dogs they allow on site. Her first assumption was my children and my parenting skills. I have never felt so judged in my whole entire life. I emailed Julie and told her the situation after I got home n felt so upset about it and they didn't even care to reply and apologise. After speaking to guests with such tone and making such an accusation with no evidence. The least you would expect would be an apology. I was ready to pass on great things about this camp but this is what i was left with.

Selected due to availability of pod(weather forecast was not great to chose this over our tent!). Good local facilities (pool, pub, shop). Site seemed ideal for us - good clean facilities, river, lots of space for children! Warm welcome on arrival, pod clean dry and warm, kids straight off to play on the field (despite the rain!) Facilities clean - despite the mud (so must have been a challenge!). Helpful staff - great fire pit! We’d definitely return!
