The Hideaway is a small, relaxed and friendly campsite ideal for Eco Pod glamping in Yorkshire, that's in-tune with nature and doesn't cost the Earth. The campsite is in the midst of our 110 acre farm, surrounded by trees and bounded on one side by a stream. It is off the beaten track, but only a stroll from the village of Husthwaite. We like to go the extra mile for you so when you feel like something a little different or just don’t fancy packing up the car with that wet tent at the end of your holiday why not book yourself into one of our cosy Eco Pods?

Unlike most glamping pods’ ours have proper beds in them…and mattresses! This double pod sleeps up to two people for a North Yorkshire Moors Glamping trip.

There is no electricity in the Eco Pods in Yorkshire because that just would not be eco-glamping, with soul now would it! There are lanterns for tealights though, so you can sit outside and gaze at the stars.

You will need to bring your own bedding (sheet, duvet/sleeping bag and pillows) and perhaps some chairs for sitting around the campfire and toasting some marshmallows. Each glamping Eco Pod has its own fire-pit and there are no cooking facilities inside so bring a camping stove with you so you do not have to crank up the fire in the morning for that bacon sarnie!

The Hideaway is situated on land attached to a 708 year old medieval manor – Baxby Manor! Built in 1308 on the edge of Husthwaite village and nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, The Hideaway is conveniently just 17 miles from the historic city of York.

Even though we are only a few miles from the market towns of Thirsk and Easingwold you would be forgiven for thinking you were in the middle of nowhere!

The variety of scenery around us provides endless possibilities for walking, cycling and touring – North to the vast dramatic open landscape of the North Yorkshire Moors; West to the green valley pastures of the Yorkshire Dales, beloved of our famous local vet – James Herriot – and Bronte Country; South through the rich farmlands of the Vale of York, to the City, with its glorious Minster, Jorvik Museum and the National Rail Museum; East to the Wolds and coast – picturesque fishing villages, Whitby old town’s quaint streets, imposing cliff top Abbey and Dracula legend, plus the traditional seaside resorts of Scarborough and Filey.

"Yet another fantastic hideaway getaway!!"

Mr J Sewell - Stayed with friends, Sep 2019

From the moment we arrive Barney (Glamping Chief) if friendly and welcoming, this starts off any break in the right way! Such a cool guy! Barney's relaxed yet organised and informative style really is a skill when dealing with so many people year in and year out- refreshing to see! The site is clean, friendly, has everything you need not to mention each pitch really gives the feeling of space & privacy whilst being surrounded by the playful sound of children, people laughing and the great smell of fires and food!! There are many varying walks for all ages and abilities that start just steps from the campsite, a great way to stretch your legs and enjoy the stunning surrounding flora and fauna- not to mention the nice pubs!! We particularly enjoy the Fauconberg Arms (Coxworld) just a 50 minute walk away along a lovely disused rsailway track. The Carlton Inn (Carlton Husthwaite) just a 20 minute walk away but part of a great 2-3 hour walk. Oh and not forgetting the Tomahawk pub just a few minutes walks from the hideaway in the village We LOVE the hideaway at Baxby and the above is why we return time and time again!

"Very quiet"

Mrs J Ableson - Stayed with family, Aug 2019

We stayed for 2 nights with family. My husband and I stayed in an ecopod and this was the best we’ve stayed in. We won’t be returning as the rules are too many No music -don’t go off the footpaths etc. We knew it was a quiet place but for the children at the camp... We stayed for 2 nights with family. "Lovely quiet place, clean facilities and friendly staff"

Miss J Baldwin - Stayed with partner, Jul 2019

We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend to anyone! There is a strong environmental ethos which is important to me, and the site is very respectful to the surrounding wildlife and environment. Staff are very helpful and welcoming and our ecopod... "Lovely little hideaway"

J Naylor - Stayed with partner, Jun 2019

Only stayed one night in an eco pod but absolutley loved it and wished we had more nights there, we'll certainly be returning. The shower/toilet block is one of the cleanest I've seen at this type of campsite.

It's just me and my dog and I knew that the local hostelries were excellent food providers and were dog friendly. The weather was adverse, but the friends who called for a BBQ make the most of any conditions. The fire pit is such a sensible idea. The walks were not firm underfoot due to the rain, but that can add to the experience rather than subtract from it. Droves of campers treading local paths would not be in the environmental spirit of the site. Should you want further (positive) comment, please do not hesitate to contact me. Bob Ledger 07944190032
