Accepted The Hideaway is a small, relaxed and friendly campsite ideal for Eco Pod glamping in Yorkshire, that's in-tune with nature and doesn't cost the Earth. The campsite is in the midst of our 110 acre farm, surrounded by trees and bounded on one side by a stream. It is off the beaten track, but only a stroll from the village of Husthwaite. We like to go the extra mile for you so when you feel like something a little different or just don’t fancy packing up the car with that wet tent at the end of your holiday why not book yourself into one of our cosy Ecopods?
Unlike most glamping pods’ ours have proper beds in them…and mattresses! This pod sleeps up to four people for a North Yorkshire Moors Glamping trip. (Please note that the Family EcoPod will NOT accommodate 4 adults (15+) due to the size of the single beds. A maximum of 4 including infants.)
There is no electricity in these Eco Pods in Yorkshire but there are lanterns for tealights so you can sit outside and gaze at the stars.
You will need to bring your own bedding (sheet, duvet/sleeping bag and pillows) and perhaps some chairs for sitting around the campfire and toasting some marshmallows. Each glamping Eco Pod has its own fire-pit and there are no cooking facilities inside so bring a camping stove with you so you do not have to crank up the fire in the morning for that bacon sarnie!
The Hideaway is situated on land attached to a 708 year old medieval manor – Baxby Manor! Built in 1308 on the edge of Husthwaite village and nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, The Hideaway is conveniently just 17 miles from the historic city of York.
Even though we are only a few miles from the market towns of Thirsk and Easingwold you would be forgiven for thinking you were in the middle of nowhere!
The variety of scenery around us provides endless possibilities for walking, cycling and touring – North to the vast dramatic open landscape of the North Yorkshire Moors; West to the green valley pastures of the Yorkshire Dales, beloved of our famous local vet – James Herriot – and Bronte Country; South through the rich farmlands of the Vale of York, to the City, with its glorious Minster, Jorvik Museum and the National Rail Museum; East to the Wolds and coast – picturesque fishing villages, Whitby old town’s quaint streets, imposing cliff top Abbey and Dracula legend, plus the traditional seaside resorts of Scarborough and Filey The Hideaway is a small, relaxed and friendly campsite ideal for Eco Pod glamping in Yorkshire, that's in-tune with nature and doesn't cost the Earth. Great campsite, for glamping, or camping. Staff really welcoming, facilities are clean and really good. Cannot recommend enough.

Lovely relaxed stay at The Hideaway. The family ecopod was perfect for our requirements with and 11 and 13 yr old. We were snug but fitted. The site felt chilled out and I really like that it isn't a sea of tents all smashed in together. The ecopod sits on its own next to a couple of tent pitches, so again I like the feeling that you aren't just in a sea of sleeping huts. Everything including the toilets was really tidy. The pizza shack was a great addition since our last visit, with very tasty sensibly priced pizza, and served gluten free bases (some of the best I have tasted) The gf bases had extra foil cases to protect them and the guys in the shack obviously knew about cross contamination when asked. Breakfast rolls from there were also good, including a gluten free option. This was so good to find as there are 2 coeliac sin our family.Lovely chilled out first part to our holiday

The Hideaway@Baxby was a fantastic way to spend our half term Halloween get-away this year. From the moment we arrived, everybody was friendly and welcoming and the site had really got into the Halloween spirit, with pumpkins, smoke machine and lights, all adding to the atmosphere. The facilities and amenities were immaculately kept, thanks to everyone adhering to the rule of removing shoes in some of the shared areas. The showers and toilets were incredibly clean and, importantly for the time of year we visited, they were kept warm. Although our pod didn't have heat and electricity, we stayed warm and cosy with plenty of blankets and hot water bottles, and our family all slept well! The fire pit was a great feature and we created lovely memories by sitting around it as a family spotting shooting stars and satellites. We made use of the pizza shack on site and ate the beautiful pizzas around our campfire. We spotted all kinds of wildlife, including the free-range chickens!

This is our second stay of the year at Baxby, this time in an ecopod. Absolutely LOVED it! Family time, campfires, gorgeous pizza and breakfast baps... Exactly what we all needed. You guys definitely think of everything at the site. Now trying to see if we can squeeze in another hoglet stay before the season finishes 😉Really recommend visiting Thirsk Birds of Prey Centre and Monk Bretton Farm Park if you're travelling to the area

Would be good to have a table provided with the ecopod to have meals outside

We liked the cleanliness of the bathroom but felt v tight in the family hut. Also fairy lights did not start working before we went to sleep so no use to us. Also we would have appreciated some communal cups/plates and more importantly some sheltered seating to serve the food from the van .

Just back from 3 night stay in the Family Pod with an 8 and 6 year old. The weather was often wet but we still had a great time. The kids loved the freedom of exploring with new friends and soending time ourdoors. The Pizza Shack offers a great and friendly service-pizzas are very tasty. The kids enjoyed sorting our rubbish fir recycling. Shower block always clean and warm. Superb day out to bearby Monk Park Farm. Would highly recommend a stay at Baxby Manor for those with primary aged children.

The facilities at this site were excellent I was very impressed. Also layout of site meant always close to the facilities enabling me to take my 3 children and let them be independent and responsible for activities. Slightly out of the way but very peaceful and not far to great places.

This is by far the best campsite we have stayed at. This was our third visit and still impressed with the place. Very impressed with the pizza/coffee hut which came in handy. The toilets were very clean and cannot fault the place. We used the family eco pod for the first time and can recommend this, very clean and tidy. Very enjoyable place and very child friendly, we be retiring next year!
