The Hideaway @ Baxby Manor
Sleeps
up to 4 |
1 Bedroom |
Suitable for Families | WIFI Available | Camp Fires | Instant Booking |
The Hideaway is a small, relaxed and friendly campsite ideal for Hobbit House glamping in Yorkshire. The campsite is in the midst of our 110 acre farm, surrounded by trees and bounded on one side by a stream. It is off the beaten track, but only a stroll from the village of Husthwaite. We like to go the extra mile for you so when you feel like something a little different or just don’t fancy packing up the car with that wet tent at the end of your holiday why not book yourself into one of our cosy Hobbit Houses?
With a PROPER double bed plus two single beds (one a bunk) in our luxury Yorkshire glamping Hobbit Houses plus “Up-cycled” outdoor furniture (chairs/benches and tables) made from wooden pallets and decking, fairy lights, plates, bowls, cutlery, mugs, glasses, BBQ tools, portable single gas stove, kettle, and cushions and throws not to mention your own Log-burner inside and your own private campfire outside- there’s quite a lot included!
We suggest bringing a frying pan or two (no pans provided) for those tasty local bacon and eggs in the morning, brought to you by our friendly local butcher - on site on Saturday mornings!!
You will need to bring your own bedding, (none supplied) it is so much nicer having your own pillow you’ve got to admit! It can get a little cool during the night (even in mid-summer) so bring a nice warm duvet.
Other items you will need to bring yourselves include; dishcloths, bag of tealights, and perhaps a gazebo to shelter in from the (rain!) sun.
Our Hobbit Houses have fairy lights and no electricity for the very same reasons mentioned above…
Each House also has its own fire-pit.
In the ideal location for your North Yorkshire Glamping break, The Hideaway is situated on land attached to a 708 year old medieval manor – Baxby Manor! Built in 1308 on the edge of Husthwaite village and nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, The Hideaway is conveniently just 17 miles from the historic city of York.

An amazing campsitecthexaccomidation was top notch with lots of crockery and glass wear, lovely wood burning stove, gas burner for a cuppa and really comfy beds. Planted well so they seemed quite private and a great little fire pit with plenty of seating. The facilities were very well maintained warm bathrooms with hot showers, lovely hand soap and very clean. Good pot wash and drying room. The pizza suck is a great idea providing fab food when you want something not from the fire! The shop is well stocked with things you may need. Half an hour away from York but it is very countrified!! An amazing campsite couldn’t ask for anything more!

We had a fantastic stay. The hoggleton houses are spacious, well equipped and offer a little more luxury than camping but are still at the heart of the site with the fire pit and space that makes Baxby Manor such a favourite.

The houses were amazing! Really well constructed with everything you could ask for. They were clearly made with lots of attention to detail and care. Our kids loved them. All the facilities are great. The shower blocks were really clean. The pizza shack/coffee and breakfast hut was brilliant, we sampled both the pizzas and the breakfast and they were excellent. The kids really loved meeting the chickens and they adored Juno the owner’s very friendly dog. Barney the owner was really helpful in the shop. There are some lovely walks on the site tablet & we had a great adventure for a couple of hours. We got a chance to sample the food and drink at the village pub and that was also very nice. The play area in the village was great too and we also sampled the local cider made 5 mins away from the site. We we definitely be back!

People are asked to take their shoes off when they go in so it keeps things nice and clean. The pizza shack provides various food options and was great. We stayed in the Hogglet houses which were nice and spacious. Mattresses could have been more comfortable. They sank and you could feel the slats on the bed. We put our own air mattresses on top to provide extra padding. There was an issue when we stayed with the Google fire alarm going off just before 6 am which wasn’t ideal. They seem to connect to all the huts (good for safety - if one is on fire the others will be alerted) but it proved a false alarm so everyone in those huts had an early morning wake up call. In the end I had to take it off the wall and put it in my car so my daughter and I could go back to sleep for a bit We did have a lovely time though so that was a shame but overall a nice place to stay and chi
