Mains Farm Caravan Site is a family run quiet touring park, set in the countryside well away from main roads, yet within easy reach of the Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish Borders.

Mains Farm offers a choice of 12 camping pods where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Eden Valley. Each pods includes electric, lighting, electric heater for cool winter nights, a porch for sitting out and a picnic bench for dining.

Outstanding peaceful, rural location with spectacular views of the Eden Valley in Cumbria. Enjoy walks direct from the glamping site in the Lake District including a lovely, short riverside walk to the village of Kirkoswald, which has a shop, post office and a choice of two Inns. Ullswater is less than 15 miles away where you will find some fantastic walking routes. One of our favourite routes takes in Lacy's Caves and Long Meg Stone Cirle. The C2C cycle route is within 1 mile of the site and an 18 hole golf course is only a 10 minute drive away. There is an enclosed children's play area with swings and slides for those wanting a family glamping break in the Lake District or why not visit the Lazonby heated outdoor swimming pool from your glampsite at Mains Farm.

"Lovely stay"

Mrs N Lissaman - Stayed with family, Aug 2021

Stayed for 2 nights in a camping pod. Would have struggled with 2 double air beds. The pod fit a double and single in lovely. Staff were very welcoming. Location was great. Very scenic. Showers were lovely and hot. Facilities were great. Will definitely visit again.

We have just had a lovely second stay at Mains Farm, my little boy and I returned as it is a great site, we have had a pod both times (the same one) and he loves talking to the sheep and rabbits in the morning whilst I am making breakfast. Julie and Robert are really helpful, the washroom facilities are clean and plentiful and it was great to have a kettle, microwave and toaster available in the morning, there’s also a massive fridge freezer you can use. The honesty shop was a good idea too. We will definitely return soon .

We found the site no problems and on arrival, both Robert and Julie welcomed us at reception. After explaining the rules of the site and where the toilets, showers etc were, Robert took us to our Pod. Was a tight squeeze getting through the buildings to the pod, we have a bigger car so this was no fault of the farm. The pod was in an area with 5 other pods, having plenty space between them, a picnic bench outside each one and brilliant views of the surrounding countryside. The pods had electric sockets with USB ports in them and a small heater, which wasn't needed because they are well insulated. Plenty space in pod, we had 4 sleeping mats and there was enough room to move around without wakening everyone else up. There were 3 showers and toilets in the building closest to us but there were more in another building, there are even private toilet/shower areas that can be paid for separately but we didn't get one and didn't need it to be honest. The showers/toilets were clean and were always kept that way, hot water was in abundance and not lukewarm like some holidays we've been on. There is also a small kitchen area with a kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge freezer and sinks for washing dishes. A small cake stall selling cakes for £1, homemade local jam & marmalade and other things like disposable bbqs, charcoal and firelighters was quite handy. Cakes were yummy! There's a play area for kids with swings, climbing frame and a few other things that kept my 9 year old busy, we always felt safe when she was playing there. Other areas included 3 tipi tents which, if we're lucky enough, we shall stay in one next year🤞, pitches for other tents and caravans. There are plenty walks down along the River Eden and we could also walk into Lazonby(30-40 mins or a 5 minute drive) which has an outdoor swimming pool and a Co-op for essentials. Robert and Julie always seemed to be going around working and had smiles on their faces, nothing seemed too much trouble for them. It is a working farm but you wouldn't know it because it was so quiet. Any other holiday we've been on it's always busy with lots of hustle and bustle, this is a great place to just chill and relax. I certainly feel the benefit after everything that's happened with Covid. Would definitely recommend a stay here and here's hoping there's space for us next year.

We were made to feel so welcome by the owners and other staff members on site. It’s a beautiful site, lovingly developed to keep its natural beauty. It’s very spacious and the pods cleverly positioned so you have your own privacy. The pod was clean, had lighting and plug sockets and laminate flooring. The fire pit was great and worth the additional cost. There is a lovely short walk to Kirkoswald where we would recommend the Fetherston Arms for a great meal. Would highly recommend and cannot wait to go back!
