Mains Farm Caravan Site is a family run quiet touring park, set in the countryside well away from main roads, yet within easy reach of the Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish Borders.

Mains Farm offers a choice of 12 camping pods where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Eden Valley. Each pods includes electric, lighting, electric heater for cool winter nights, a porch for sitting out and a picnic bench for dining.

Outstanding peaceful, rural location with spectacular views of the Eden Valley in Cumbria. Enjoy walks direct from the glamping site in the Lake District including a lovely, short riverside walk to the village of Kirkoswald, which has a shop, post office and a choice of two Inns. Ullswater is less than 15 miles away where you will find some fantastic walking routes. One of our favourite routes takes in Lacy's Caves and Long Meg Stone Cirle. The C2C cycle route is within 1 mile of the site and an 18 hole golf course is only a 10 minute drive away. There is an enclosed children's play area with swings and slides for those wanting a family glamping break in the Lake District or why not visit the Lazonby heated outdoor swimming pool from your glampsite at Mains Farm.

"Pleasure to visit, no worries, no nonsense. Very helpful and relaxed owners. Just what you need on holiday"

We have been visiting mains farm for four times as a stop over between Scotland and East Anglia and it has become a place we really love to arrive at after a long and busy day driving the roads in the UK. Julie and Robert are very good listeners and will always think along with you to cater for your needs. On top of that they create a relaxed atmosphere in your contact with them as hosts and the site and that is reflected in everything at Mains Farm. On the way for our latest visit we encounted delays amounting to more than 2 hours and not only were they willing to waive the normal max. arrival time at the site (8 pm), but they also made advance arrangements at Mains farm for us to improve our (short) stay. No doubt it has now become our favourite camp site (tent or pod) in the area (unless the site is full....).

A great campsite which was very quiet and friendly.

We chose Mains Farm based on the great reviews and the fact that it had really good facilties and space for the kids, and we were not disappointed at all! We visited as a family of 4 with our 2 young kids, and my in-laws, so requested 2 pods next to each other and 2 pods next to each other we got! We received a lovely personal welcome from Robert who is a really lovely man, and he showed us to our pods and the shared facilities. The pods were slightly bigger than we've had before which was hugely welcomed, and had pretty decoration inside, plenty of hooks and electric sockets and was nice and warm. The only tiny negative I could say was that the pictures of the pods online showed an outside storage box which we were banking on putting our cooking gear in since vehicles go back in the car park after unloading, but there weren't any with our pods... Luckily we had a big tarpaulin so we covered our stuff from the hefty overnight rain with that. The field we were in was small and perfectly laid out, only 6 pods if I remember correctly and were occupated by very quiet, friendly people. Robert thankfully said we were OK to put a non-sided pop up shelter up between our pods, which was a godsend because we ended up with some awful weather at points and cooking would've been impossible without it, we also ended up putting another small one up to eat under during the rain and wind, which was made easier by the fact that each pod has a decent little wooden picnic bench we could huddle on! We had enough space in front of us for the kids and big kids to play cricket without bothering anyone, and my youngest son loved the playground (luckily we had brought walkie talkies so we didn't need to stay with him for the many hours he spent there!). The shared facilities are absolutely brilliant, really nice and ample hot showers big enough to get your kids in with you, loos with loads of loo roll, hand wash and hand towels, decent washing up facilties we never had to wait for, and shared fridge and chest freezer, toaster and kettle if you don't bring your own (we did though)! Homemade cakes in one of the barns was my kids favourite part of the shared facilities! We had a lovely walk suggested by laminated print outs in the shared area, down to a village pub for a drink, then across to Lazonby pool so the kids could have a swim, and back through the sheep fields, all needed to burn a few burgers and hot dogs off (and ahem wine and prosecco)! We watched an absolutely STUNNING sunset from our pod on our last night and it topped off a really lovely, peaceful and quality family time stay! Thanks for having us and we'll defo be back!

Really enjoy stopping here. Great access to surrounding countryside, within walking distance of two good pubs and two minute drive to village co op store. Not too far from motorway network but without road noise or traffic. Hosts are lovely and nothing is too much... Really enjoy stopping here.
