Mains Farm Caravan Site is a family run quiet touring park, set in the countryside well away from main roads, yet within easy reach of the Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish Borders.

Mains Farm offers a choice of 12 camping pods where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Eden Valley. Each pods includes electric, lighting, electric heater for cool winter nights, a porch for sitting out and a picnic bench for dining.

Outstanding peaceful, rural location with spectacular views of the Eden Valley in Cumbria. Enjoy walks direct from the glamping site in the Lake District including a lovely, short riverside walk to the village of Kirkoswald, which has a shop, post office and a choice of two Inns. Ullswater is less than 15 miles away where you will find some fantastic walking routes. One of our favourite routes takes in Lacy's Caves and Long Meg Stone Cirle. The C2C cycle route is within 1 mile of the site and an 18 hole golf course is only a 10 minute drive away. There is an enclosed children's play area with swings and slides for those wanting a family glamping break in the Lake District or why not visit the Lazonby heated outdoor swimming pool from your glampsite at Mains Farm.

Our older daughter had to be in Penrith on the Saturday, so we thought it was a good excuse to come again and stay in a pod. We came straight after school on Friday and stayed for two nights. The area is not unlike where we live, so it’s a home from home, but lovely for a little break. We like visiting Hadrian’s wall and Talkin Tarn, which are both not too far away and really enjoy eating in the Fetherston Arms, which is a lovely mile walk away. There is a little sheet available, for interesting things to watch out for on the walk. All the facilities are great and Robert and Julie are very friendly and welcoming. We will be back as soon as we can!

"Cold Fell"

Mr A Greenwood - Stayed with friends, Mar 2019

An excellent visit, from on line booking to departure. Pod was clean and warm. Other facilities we used were excellent, clean and well supplied. We had 18 in our group, some camping, some in pods, some in bunkhouse and some in a camper van.

We chose Mains Farm as it was in the area we wanted to visit and had dog friendly camping pods. Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, taking time to make local recommendations and check everything was ok for us. The site was very clean and tidy, with beautiful views. There was the right balance of pitches, spread around the site, to not feel crowded in. Pitches and pods were positioned thoughtfully to make the most of the views. Facilities were central to most pitches and were well resourced with kettle, toaster, microwave and plentiful fridge space. Homemade cakes were on sale, which made the journey home a little more bearable.

Staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. We stayed in a pod but regular camping space is available. The pod was spotless and with ample power supply to charge phones etc. A concern with booking a pod was that they would be crammed in together with little space or privacy from other campers, but this site has positioning just right and that wasn't the case at all. Add to that the stunning views and you have a perfect location for camping.

We stayed in one of the bunkhouses which was comfortable and clean. The facilities on the farm are good and are kept very clean, and a bonus is having a communal kitchen for visitors with a cooker, microwave, fridge kettle and toaster, also crockery and cutlery. there is even tea coffee and sugar for use by guests. We had a lovely break in a lovely well run place. would definitely return . Highly recommended. Thank you Julie.
