Mains Farm Caravan Site is a family run quiet touring park, set in the countryside well away from main roads, yet within easy reach of the Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish Borders.
Mains Farm offers a choice of 12 camping pods where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Eden Valley. Each pod includes electric, lighting, electric heater for cool winter nights, a porch for sitting out and a picnic bench for dining.
Outstanding peaceful, rural location with spectacular views of the Eden Valley in Cumbria. Enjoy walks direct from the glamping site in the Lake District including a lovely, short riverside walk to the village of Kirkoswald, which has a shop, post office and a choice of two Inns. Ullswater is less than 15 miles away where you will find some fantastic walking routes. One of our favourite routes takes in Lacy's Caves and Long Meg Stone Cirle. The C2C cycle route is within 1 mile of the site and an 18 hole golf course is only a 10 minute drive away. There is an enclosed children's play area with swings and slides for those wanting a family glamping break in the Lake District or why not visit the Lazonby heated outdoor swimming pool from your glampsite at Mains Farm.

The camp location is very good: half an hour drive to Ullswater or 40 min to Derwentwater, Keswick. I would recommend this farm to families with children but not for those who wants to spend time in calm environment. On our visit facilities were not so clean and tidy but not of the owners fault. Actually it depends a lot on people staying at that time. If parents can't control their children playing in showers with dirty shoes, others won't have clean facilities as well.

Great location and has everything you need on site. Unfortunately the toilets/showers need modernising and to be kept to a better standard. Shared fridge was also very dirty.

The owners were wonderful, friendly and helpful giving out tips about where to go for a nice walk and even give you a map they made themselves of the area. Great facilities. Clean toilets and showers (only teeny tiny flaw I could say if that the showers were before the toilets as you walk in so the floor was wet sometimes but that is a tiny tiny comment) Indoor cooking space with freezer ( which I used for my cool blocks) and a kettle which was great for a quick cuppa before packing up in my last day. I didn’t use the playground but it looked great for kids of different ages. One of the best camp sites I’ve been to. Really quiet but had enough to keep kids and families entertained. Even my grumpy dog loved it.

Pods, tents, tipis, bunkrooms and caravan/campers. Exceptionally well organised site in a beautiful location. Great loos and showers in a converted farm building. The kettle, fridge and microwave in the wash up area are very handy! The site is on a farm, beautiful buildings and beautiful location in the aptly named Eden Valley. It’s right on the river for a paddle or swim. Kids will enjoy the rope swing on the bank of the river. A wild flower meadow blooms in summer right by the tipis. Long Meg stone circle is near by as are Lacy’s caves. Lazonby over the river is a v handy little place with co-op and train station - and outside pool. Have been camping at Mains for many years now and can’t wait to be back for my next visit. For me, it’s a magical place :-)

We enjoyed staying in one of your lovely spacious camping pods in the orchard. with absolutely beautiful views, & authentic buildings. I would love to come back again, with my family this time, an a car, Maybe next year. One thing I did say about, was led strip lights on the upside of the middle beam of wood, so you could turn the main lights off. The other thing we both said was, it would of been nice to have a sun shade sail, or canvas tarps. As it was really hot, an the only cool shaded place I found was in the kitchen/shower block/barn. Thank you for a lovely stay, an I'm very sorry about my drunken friend. I was so embarrassed an annoyed that she kept going of talking to other guests. An walking into your private area. Many thanks Dawn.
