Accepted The Yurt at Craignee is a cosy, off-grid retreat, with wood burner and garden area, surrounded by peace and wildlife. Enjoy lots of home comforts with an extra dash of adventure!
A spacious 5m yurt built by ourselves and local WolfPack Yurts from native oak, which balances off-grid simplicity with plenty of comfort.
- The Yurt at Craignee is a large open plan space with cooking facilities (including camping stove and cool box), a comfy double bed, dining area and relaxing seating by a lovely Glastonbury Burners wood stove. With the stove is going it’s warm and snug, whatever the weather (but please note that this is the only heat source, and keeping the fire burning is essential in cold weather). The yurt has rugs, antique furniture and fairy lights for a super cosy, romantic experience - and you’ll find a few extra touches to make your stay comfortable and a bit different from the ordinary.
- The yurt is totally off grid so be prepared for a wee touch of back-to-nature adventure. But we provide you with containers of water (topped up as needed), camping stove and battery powered lighting. There is a basket of fuel and kindling for the stove (and you can buy extra from us while you are here) plus plenty of cosy bedding and blankets. If you aren’t looking for a complete digital detox you will be able to pick up an excellent 4g signal with EE or use our Wifi, and we provide a charged battery pack on your arrival for a phone recharge or two.
- The private composting toilet and sink are close by. We don’t yet have a permanent shower so a simple 12v outdoor camping shower is available (in winter months please ask). We provide a hand towel and 1 bath towel.
- Relax in your own outdoor seating area with a fire-pit and barbecue. Perfect for enjoying nature, soaking up some Scottish sun or gazing at the night sky (on a clear night the milky way soars overhead).
- We are not a glamping site. You’ll be the only guests here. The yurt is in a private area of the 1 acre garden, with our house nearby.
