Pennine View a family-run caravan and camp site on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, a mile from the centre of the historic market town of Kirkby Stephen. It sits at the midway point of the Coast to Coast route and are only a short drive from both the Lake District National Park, Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North Pennines, meaning that there are lots of walks and cycle routes nearby catering for all tastes.
These beautiful wooden pods can sleep up to 5 people and come with mattresses which convert from comfy benches to a big bed. The pods also come fully equipped with heating, light, a fridge and a kettle. In addition to the stunning mountain views, outside each pod, guests can make use of a BBQ and picnic bench
Guests will need to bring their own bedding, cooking equipment and utensils, towels and charcoal for the BBQ.
Well behaved dogs are allowed in our pods, however you must bring your own bedding for them.
Our spacious washrooms are well appointed and open 24 hours. They boast individual wash cubicles with mirrors, free hot showers, hair dryers and a deep sink in the ladies for baby bathing. A large disabled room is available in both the ladies and gents, which can be used as a family cubicle.
A children’s play area is provided with a swing and climbing frame with slide. Children must be supervised whilst playing on site.
We have a small shop in reception selling essentials to stock you up when you run out. (Plus chocolate because that’s an essential in our eyes!)
We offer free WiFi to our guests on site across all accommodations

Location - although I am v fit and able, how would a less abled person get here from the station? or town?Improvements - could be the better signage and direction of what waste goes into where and the general display of these facilities.( bearing in mind this is diverse within Britain let alone other countries) cleanliness, facilities, amenities - excellentKirkby Stephen as a town, and the surrounding area is brilliant - please promote the area to the hilt and supply material in the reception area and perhaps elsewhere for folk to enjoy this wonderful part of Britain. A rack of tourist information in the reception area would be v useful plus a folder of material in the pods

Once again another great couple of days away in one of the pods clean and tidy with kettle fridge and large comfy bed staff very helpful and friendly and willing to chat and provid information. Engine shed great for food and a pint or two. Local area great for dog walks especially the viaduct walk great time had by all. We will definitely be back next year.

Love this site. Been a few times now and have already booked again for this year. We stay in a pod and its perfect.for what we need. It's close to fab walks and easy access to the village too. The Engine Shed bar on site is great and the food supplied each night is of top quality. I feel like they should introduce doing breakfasts though as the pods don't have cooking facilities. The small kitchen across from the pods would benefit from a microwave. Im sure it used to have one. One one gripe the toilet and shower block next to the pods could do with a makeover. This won't stop me from visiting again as the other shower and toilet block is perfect.

Good morning,I just wanted to send a big thank you once again, as like always, we had the best days of our lives at the Lakes, all thanks to your wonderful campsite. I travel all the way from Malta to camp there, and it’s always worth it! Sometimes I stay in a tent, but this time I tried the pod, and it was absolutely amazing. The only small suggestion I’d make is to consider adding a small fan inside the pod during the summer months. One of the days was quite hot, and I didn’t feel comfortable leaving the door open at night in case we had any furry visitors join us!Other than that, everything was simply perfect, as it always is. Thank you so much for the warm welcome and for maintaining such a beautiful and peaceful place. Also, do you happen to rent out campers?

Stayed in a mountain pod for 3 nights with my 2 children in April. Perfectly located to the west of the Lakes and north of the Yorkshire Dales. It was absolutely ideal for our needs. The pod warms up nicely, we utilised the BBQ to cook dinner and toasted marshmallows, as well as trying the food at The Engine Shed. The Greek food on Wednesday night was delicious and the Sauvignon blanc at the bar 👌👌👌. Toilet / shower block, spotless, staff so friendly and the price is great too. Already booked to return in August. Tip, bring plenty of sheets and bedding, the back of the pod folds out into a huge bed, more than enough space for us.

Engine shed a real bonus..with a variety of different menus daily. Wonderful scenery and viaduct walks and easy access to Kirkby Stephen. Staff very friendly and accommodating … highly recommended
