Pennine View a family-run caravan and camp site on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, a mile from the centre of the historic market town of Kirkby Stephen. It sits at the midway point of the Coast to Coast route and are only a short drive from both the Lake District National Park, Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North Pennines, meaning that there are lots of walks and cycle routes nearby catering for all tastes.
This beautiful wooden pod can sleep up to 4 people with a big double mattress and a pull out mattress for up to 2 children. The pods also come fully equipped with heating, light, a fridge and a kettle. In addition to the stunning mountain views, outside each pod, guests can make use of a BBQ and picnic bench
Guests will need to bring their own bedding, cooking equipment and utensils, towels and charcoal for the BBQ.
Well behaved dogs are allowed in our pods, however you must bring your own bedding for them.
Our spacious washrooms are well appointed and open 24 hours. They boast individual wash cubicles with mirrors, free hot showers, hair dryers and a deep sink in the ladies for baby bathing. A large disabled room is available in both the ladies and gents, which can be used as a family cubicle.
A children’s play area is provided with a swing and climbing frame with slide. Children must be supervised whilst playing on site.
We have a small shop in reception selling essentials to stock you up when you run out. (Plus chocolate because that’s an essential in our eyes!)
We offer free WiFi to our guests on site across all accommodations

We had a lovely couple of days and tried to extend our stay but it was booked up! Perfect with a toddler, not too big! Excellent facilities. Our 3 year old especially enjoyed the river and the park

The campsite is well situated for walkers using the Settle - Carlisle railway and exploring Kirkby Stephen and the surrounding area. Lovely river gorge and walks on the doorstep. Warm welcome by staff and helpful in storing equipment and allowing late access to pod. Good on site restaurant and bar.

Fabulous campsite, lovely clean facilities, main shower block the shower were hot and powerful. Great little extras in the pods such as crockery, cutlery and kettle. Nice sized fridge with small freezer section which was very handy. Handy for wild swimming in the river next to the campsite. Town has plenty of small shops and a lovely Chinese takeaway.

We had a great stay in the red pod, the site is extremely well maintained with great facilities, the food from the engine shed is fantastic especially the breakfast wraps 😋A nice calm and quiet setting. The local walks are lovely. Only downside is there’s no weekend availability is the pods for the summer as we wanted to book again!!

We love Pennine view, the site is very clean and tidy, well equipped for couples families and pets. The owners and staff are very friendly and welcoming. The location is amazing for walks, beautiful scenery at the back of the site which leads to the viaduct walk into Kirkby Stephen village. The engine shed on site for drinks food and to chill out with friends is perfect. We go back 2/3 times a year, and will continue to do so xxx

Stayed here many times whilst hiking many different multi day hikes. I am usually in a one man tent but as it was out of season I managed to grab the mountain pod at a good price especially if sharing the cost. If hiking, the availability of washing and drying is helpful, and the separate showers near the hikers spot is thoughtful. Also, you have access to a kitchen which has a kettle and microwave and a few other useful items. Lat of all you don't have to go off site for a pint and pizza, you have the Engine shed which is more glamours than it sounds! And of course you can wonder into Kirby Stephen and grab almost anything that you might need, it's actually worth spending another day to explore and possibly rest. One of my favourite campsites and featured a number of times on Ambling Trails. v
