The camping pods at Hillcroft Park are the perfect location for staying near Lake Ullswater in the Lake District. Owned and operated by the Heath Family, the award-winning Hillcroft Park sits above the pretty lakeside village of Pooley Bridge.

Designed to meet the needs of holiday makers who appreciate the peace and tranquillity found in this part of the world, Hillcroft Park provides an ever-changing landscape that is simply breathtaking throughout the year.
Camping Pods are suitable for couples or families of up to 2 adults and 3 Children. They are equipped with a light, heater and are carpeted, however, you are required to bring your own bedding (i.e. air beds, pillows, sleeping bags, blankets, etc.) and other accessories as you would if you were camping. Think of it as going camping, but we provide you with a camping pod rather than a tent.
We love what we do and work hard to go that extra mile for our guests. Providing the best facilities with a personal touch, we’ve an onsite shop that sells a good range of local produce and everyday staples plus a play area with outdoor table tennis and football tables. There is a dedicated laundry room and a drying room.
We are lucky enough to be located in the beautiful Ullswater Valley and there are a multitude of walks for all levels and abilities in the area. A recent addition to the list is the Ullswater Way – a 20 mile circular walking route around the lake. The route can be walked in either direction and from any starting point.

My only grumble and I do take some responsibilities that it really needs to be much clearer on the website that some of the pods are completely empty.Yes, I should have read the details more carefully. However, after speaking with reception, I was told this is a common mistake that many guests make, not just me. A simple dropdown or clearer booking option showing "Empty Pod" and "Furnished Pod" would help prevent this confusion.I had booked two nights before taking on a challenging 6½-hour swim in Ullswater. Sleeping on the carpet in a hot, empty pod was far from ideal, so I ended up leaving after the first night. Paying £130 to sleep on the floor forwithout being able to cook, eat, or even comfortably relax wasn't one of my better decisions.After completing the swim, I then faced a five-hour drive home because I couldn't face another night with the noise, no bed, flies in the pod, and the lack of basic facilities.Apart from this issue, my feedback is simply that the bo

The site was spot less the toilet block was definately 5* and the staff cleaning them so friendly we stayed in camping pods which were spotless and ideal. Definately value for money

Really nice site! I stayed in a camping pod so knew what to expect with regards to needing to take my own rquipment, but the pod was very clean. Shower facilities and wash space really good especially if you were staying in a tent or a camping pod on the site. Staff were really friendly and chatty, could tell they cared about the site. We had young kids in our party that also made use of the play area which kept them entertained.I would definitely recommed to friends.

We had a very enjoyable stay in a POD at Hillcroft. The site is beautifully kept and the toilet block where we were at the top of the site was immaculate. There are plenty of places to eat in Pooley Bridge which is just a short walk from Hillcroft and several decent walks in the local area.

We had an amazing view from our camping pod to the lake. The facilities were clean and well looked after. This was our family's first time camping, and hilcroft parking made it an amazing experience that we would love to repeat more.The staff were friendly and kind, and playful towards our two daughters (6 and 2 yrs old). We loved the pizza and the breakfast baps at the pop-up stand. This location was our base for exploring lake district during our 5 days stay

We stayed at hillcroft in April 2026 this is our 2nd visit to the parkWe stayed in the camping pods on both occasions, fantastic pods they are a great size we stayed in 12 & 14 and you can fit 5 single airbeds in a row with a little space down the side.The site is well maintained & the toilet/shower block is immaculate has to be the best facilities we've ever been to. Staff are all lovely and cheerful Hillcroft is an ideal location not far from penrith so its perfect to go get your food shopping in and any other bits you may need our fav is home bargins! We have booked to come back already!!
