We spent 4 nights in a castle pod at herding hill farm. Before our arrival I had rang up just to check what we needed to bring, we were told everything was included and to bring ourselves and some food. That was not wrong, everything was thought of, including seperate towels for the hot tub. When we arrived we were showed round the pod and how to work the hot tub and any appliances, the customer service was excellent they even hand delivered charcoals to our pod. We visited the mile castle inn for food one night which was excellent, around a 12 minute walk from site. We ordered a delivery from the Haltwhislte Fryery which served pizzas and fish and chips, the food was excellent we had pizzas. We visited the Roman Vindolanda which was ten minutes away which was a great way to spend an afternoon. Hadrians Wall was in walking distance, we walked to the wall and into haltwhistle, perfect! The site is really peaceful and the countryside is so beautiful. We will defini

Peaceful long weekend

Returned to Herding Hill after staying last year and we were delighted to stay in Chillingham Castle Pod. The pod has lots of nice touches like tea coffee sugar milk, and everything needed in the kitchen and bathroom, including hairdryer. From the hot tub you can see fields and sky. Looking forward to returning. It's a great place to reset from every day life. Not far from Carlisle, Newcastle, and local history. Photos: view from pod, nearby river on Hadrian's Wall, signposts from local Milecastle pub. There are nice places to eat and drink a short drive nearby, including Twice Brewed where you can take dogs too.

Lovely place very well set out. The way the pods are set out it’s very private! Lots of walks to do if you are into that but equally a lovely place just to sit about and do nothing. There’s a pub in walking distance which offers brilliant food and drink We will definitely be back.

First time visit

This was our first time visiting the site on recommendation from our friends who have been. We were in a castle pod (Alnwick) which I was really happy to have as it was the best view by far. Check in was easy and all explained. Facilities fantastic and all as advertised. Beautiful walks nearby in to Haltwhistle and pub close too. Only slight criticism is the tv is quite small but that’s just me being picky. Lovely staff and very clean. Would highly recommend. Me and the wife will be visiting again

We have really enjoyed our stay at Herding Hill Farm. We stayed in one of Castle glamping pods and it did not disappoint. We stayed over Christmas and it was amazing. Very warm and clean. Has everything you need. Staff very friendly and helpful. It is truly wonderful location. Very quiet and peaceful. We were aiming to get aways from all the busyness and Herding Hill Farm was exactly what we needed. Would definitely come back to stay.

Surprisingly comfortable and well equipped

Spent two very pleasant nights at the end of November. Never havong stayed in a pod before we opted for the Castle pods so that we didn't need to use the external facilties, it being likely to be cold and wet etc. The pod was super warm and the bed comfortable with one of the best showers Ive experienced for a long while. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need for a short break.Only criticism (and this very minor) ... maybe provide 4 place mats and coasters for those occupying 2 pods as we were - there were 4 knives and forks etc. Also ... neighbouring pod was decorated with Christmas lights which, whilst a lovely idea, wouyld have been alright if they hadn't been on an intermittant mode which included flashing, which went on all night ... pretty annoying when we wanted to enjoy the night sky through the skylight.Would definitely reccommend Herdings Farm though, and the hosts were extremelly friendly and helpful.

The Best Getaway!

My wife and I have been returning here, yearly, ever since spending our honeymoon here. The campsite is a beautiful example of what a campsite should be. Surrounded by stunning Northumberland views and a very short distance from Haltwhistle (a lovely walk from the campsite down 'The Burn' (a river walk)).We often visit in the cooler months (November), but the Castle Pods have underfloor heating, heating and a log fire inside, all controllable by yourself. Then an open fire pit outside and a lovely hot, hot tub, outside with very reasonable time requests. It's a no-noise zone too, so when you're outside, there's no music allowed which is beautiful, to have a conversation and really take in the surroundings. You often seen a beautiful sheet of stars in the sky (weather permitting).I've probably missed many more things, but my advice would be to definitely go and witness this stunning location for yourself!

Relaxing weekend away.

We arrived at the site just after 3pm. A member of staff was there to greet us and take us to our pod. When there, they showed us around the pod and explained how to use the equipment inside and the hot tub outside. The pod itself had everything you could possibly need and it was immaculately clean and presented to a very high standard. We found the staff members friendly, professional and knowledgeable. No question was too much for them. After that we were kindly left to enjoy our weekend away and explore the area.We will definitely be back! 5 stars from us.
