Tired site

Price, Helen - 27/08/2024

I stayed in a cosy cabin which certainly does not look like the photo displayed. It was very tired, in desperate need of TLC. On entrance, the main glass door was very dirty, handle was loose, almost dropping off. The outside table top was loose and almost broken and the cooking facility was a joke. No wind screen and all the cooking rings were old, dusty and covered in cobwebs. The curtains going into the cabin were filthy and covered in mud.Inside the cabin, it was very dusty, especially the blinds. The fridge and microwave were in working order. However the dishes and cutlery were a complete mismatch, very old and worn. The upper bunk bed was missing slates so the mattress dipped in the middle. The curtain rail was held together with tape and the mattress protector was filthy. One of the blinds was broken, opening and closing impossible with dust falling on bedding every time we attempted to do so. The picnic table was unsafe to use as it was totally rotten and the path was a joke

Lovely park, this was our second time back and will be making it a yearly holiday. Nice and quiet, small enough to find your way about but still has everything you could need. The kids love spending time splashing about in the pool, bathroom facilities are excellent, love the park and bar/ restaurant. Staff are all friendly and can't do enough for you to make it a great experience. Upgraded from the pod to the camping cabin this time and will definitely be booking the same again. Lovely homey little space, plenty of places to store your things and still have floor space. Loved having the cooking facilities provided and the fridge freezer was a game changer in terms of meal planning. Really enjoyed having our own little outdoor space and picnic table. Beds were amazingly comfortable.

I don't always write reviews but this accommodation I felt it was needed as I saw some negative reviews but our stay was extremely positive we stayed in one of the huts was very clean and the staff will very polite and helpful as we turned up late and they were still very accommodating and understanding there was some negative reviews about potholes and mud it is a very wet area so this is to be expected. all part of the fun camping if you ask me would definitely recommend staying here for the location alone as its five minutes to Wells and five minutes the other way to Cheddar.

In need of an upgrade

Hunt, Helen - 14/10/2023

I have to start by saying that the staff in site were really kind and helpful and are working hard against a site that needs some serious money spent on it.We arrived on Friday and were directed to the Grove pitch one in our motorhome. The pitch was muddy and dark with little hard core to protect us from the mud.We asked to move and moved onto a grass pitch which was better but the grass had not been cut for a couple of weeks so was very long. Our daughter arrived to stay in the cabin we had booked for her. When we opened the door it was a horrible mess of dirty sheets and some food lying around. I went straight to reception where the staff were very apologetic and cleaned it up immediately and gave us a voucher for the restaurant. The showers cubicles at The Grove were very tired with peeling paint and mildew. The toilets were very old with wonky seats .We ate in the restaurant and the food was okay for the price.Overall I think the owners of the site need to spend some money

Lovely family campsite

Lovely time had here we had a camping cabin which was spotless, the main facility block had clean toilets and showers, only problem was shower water pressure low at times when lots of people were showering, was fine at quieter times of day though. Nice facilities in lodge although food menu was limited during our stay. Play area for the kids. Swimming pool is lovely and warm although the big pool is quite deep for little kids that are non swimmers. Overall a lovely little park will definitely be coming back

It was fantastic. I highly recommend the cabins. Incredibly comfortable mattresses, a very sturdy bunk bed, fridge, cooking facilities, veranda, elevated position, sweet little pathway through ‘woodland walk’ to washing block, warm pool, helpful staff

Cosy cabin stay

Smith, Vivien - 06/06/2023

On arrival the staff in reception were very polite, welcoming and helpful. They explained how everything worked on site with regards to codes for the barrier and swimming pool. The cabin was spotlessly clean and spacious for three people. However, it was looking as though it could do with some TLC. The windows didn't seal properly, so the wind whistled through them at night. Also the deck chairs provided to go with the table were the wrong height, so you couldn't use them to sit and eat inside the cabin. They were also quite uncomfortable and didn't feel particularly safe to sit on. Fortunately it was warm enough to eat outdoors on the picnic bench otherwise we would have had to eat on our beds. Cooking area was serviceable, but could have been made much safer if the unit the camping grill was placed on didn't wobble so much. Perhaps a fixed wooden shelf or section of work surface would be safer, more practical and longer lasting. Location is great for seeing local sites.

Stayed with my two autistic children and couldn’t have had a better time! They both loved it. We stayed in a cabin and the facilities were perfect. They loved the pool and enjoyed the park and the little animal walk. They can wait to come and stay again. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and there is so much to do and access in the locality.

The camping cabin was a perfect base for our 4 day break exploring the area. Much warmer and more comfortable than camping in april, and very reasonably priced.
