Accepted Bordered by the National Cycle Route 1 and the Minster Way walking trail, the small and splendidly spacious glamping site of Bracken Burrows is surrounded by an excellent range of outdoorsy opps around the Yorkshire Wolds and the East Riding of Yorkshire, and is within easy reach of the sights and lights of historic York and various other handsome little towns and villages.
However if, by some remote chance, you become weary of all the pedalling and walking trails and historic town and city highlights around this peaceful and pristinely maintained countryside haven, hit the seaside instead: the sands and sea of the Yorkshire coast are about half an hour's drive from here.
Your friendly hosts Nick and Lucy (and their five pups Alf, Digby, Rupert, Kit and Jinx) have conscientiously sourced their modern little pods locally and kitted them out in spectacular style with their own ensuite plus a kitchenette with a microwave, a fridge, a hob, a coffee machine and a kettle. Outside there’s also a private decked area with outdoor seating and a firepit for barbecue feasts (logs are available on site). Plus, you’ll be chuffed to hear that there’s no need to lug your bedding or towels along, because these are kindly supplied as standard. Muffin and Oso pods sleep 4, 2 in a full sized double and 2 in a large pullout sofa-bed, Tommy sleeps 2 in a full sized double
To get your rural retreat off to a cracking start, you can order breakfast, dinner and barbecue hampers filled with locally produced goodies, and there’s even a hamper for grownups packed with luxury treats such as Prosecco, locally made cheeses, chutneys and pâtés, fruity niblets and slippers (because you’ll be doing a lot of lounging around while you’re here, obvs). You should probably use the barbecue at least once, but for when you’ve had enough of slaving over hot coals, the local area has a good collection of excellent inns serving guest ales and good gastropub grub.
