We stayed out of season and it was v quiet. I think there may only have been one other visitor on the site. The lodge we stayed in was perhaps the best we’ve ever visited. Really clean and tidy with all mod cons - super TV, Bluetooth connectivity and everything else you would want. The log burner was also an unexpected extra and actually came in really handy as the vast open plan kitchen/diner/living space was so big that the central heating alone struggled to keep the area particularly warm. My only other gripe would be the configuration of the living area with the log burner behind the sofas. To overcome this minor inconvenience I just decided to spin the sofa around and relax in front of the roaring log fire of an evening with my wife. If you’re looking for a bit of luxury whilst taking in the countryside and amazing views then this is definitely worth your consideration but be warned if you’re looking for a walk to the nearest pub then you’ll be sorely disappointed. It’s v remote

Good welcome on arrival, warden wandered over to check all was OK with the lodge. Lodge was very clean and well equipped. Only irritation was the wasps when sitting outside. When considering dates for a stay bear in mind that a few of the nearby restaurants only open Thursday to Sunday. This is also a remote location so decent food shops are half hour drive away so bring what you need at least for the first day.

We spent four nights in the lodge and it was lovely. Lots of light, very warm and cosy and on day one (still March) we drank tea on the deck in the sun, other nights we used the wood burner. We had a peacock on the deck one breakfast, hoping for some food. It was very peaceful and nice to wander in the grounds among the sheep and lambs and to see Trevor the alpaca. Beds were very comfortable and I loved the walk-in and powerful ensuite shower. We were there to walk and the footpaths and roads, moors and river are all within easy reach, as is the Inn at Whitewell where we had a superb lunch one day.

Stayed for 3 nights in February during the school holiday. Cabin very well maintained, clean and well-stocked with everything you need as a mini home-from-home. Plenty of space for 2 adults and 2 kids. Staff friendly and helpful. Currently only two cabins on site, so very private and peaceful with good views and access to the upper park whenever desired.
