The Hideaway @ Baxby Manor
Sleeps
up to 4 |
1 Bedroom |
Suitable for Families | WIFI Available | Camp Fires | Instant Booking |
The Hideaway is a small, relaxed and friendly campsite ideal for Eco Pod glamping in Yorkshire, that's in-tune with nature and doesn't cost the Earth. The campsite is in the midst of our 110 acre farm, surrounded by trees and bounded on one side by a stream. It is off the beaten track, but only a stroll from the village of Husthwaite. We like to go the extra mile for you so when you feel like something a little different or just don’t fancy packing up the car with that wet tent at the end of your holiday why not book yourself into one of our cosy Ecopods?
Unlike most glamping pods’ ours have proper beds in them…and mattresses! This pod sleeps up to four people for a North Yorkshire Moors Glamping trip. (Please note that the Family EcoPod will NOT accommodate 4 adults (15+) due to the size of the single beds. A maximum of 4 including infants.)
There is no electricity in these Eco Pods in Yorkshire but there are lanterns for tealights so you can sit outside and gaze at the stars.
You will need to bring your own bedding (sheet, duvet/sleeping bag and pillows) and perhaps some chairs for sitting around the campfire and toasting some marshmallows. Each glamping Eco Pod has its own fire-pit and there are no cooking facilities inside so bring a camping stove with you so you do not have to crank up the fire in the morning for that bacon sarnie!
The Hideaway is situated on land attached to a 708 year old medieval manor – Baxby Manor! Built in 1308 on the edge of Husthwaite village and nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, The Hideaway is conveniently just 17 miles from the historic city of York.
Even though we are only a few miles from the market towns of Thirsk and Easingwold you would be forgiven for thinking you were in the middle of nowhere!
The variety of scenery around us provides endless possibilities for walking, cycling and touring – North to the vast dramatic open landscape of the North Yorkshire Moors; West to the green valley pastures of the Yorkshire Dales, beloved of our famous local vet – James Herriot – and Bronte Country; South through the rich farmlands of the Vale of York, to the City, with its glorious Minster, Jorvik Museum and the National Rail Museum; East to the Wolds and coast – picturesque fishing villages, Whitby old town’s quaint streets, imposing cliff top Abbey and Dracula legend, plus the traditional seaside resorts of Scarborough and Filey

We cooked all our main meals on the fire all week which was great fun. There was so much space that was just ours around the pod we didn't feel overlooked by others at all. The wash facilities were clean and modern, great showers, washing up and drying room. The fridge for essentials was a real bonus. Great place to camp.

If I'm totally honest, there's nothing at all wrong with this place, it's clean and friendly, we love the effort to recycle and be eco friendly, it just wasn't for us. If I'm totally honest, there's nothing at all wrong with this place, it's clean and friendly, we love the effort to recycle and be eco friendly, it just wasn't for us. We stayed in a hut which was a fab experience - very cold though! If you're early/late season you definitely need extra blankets and slippers/socks! You also need torch/lamps - but as long as you're prepared it's fine. The toilets & showers/potwash/laundry were unbelievable! Never seen any so nice when camping... The only downside for us was we felt the pitches were a little too close together - we like a bit more space, but that's just us. Great for anyone that likes camping but still likes creature comforts!

We were lucky to have a cloud free night... we roasted marsh mallows on the fire and looked at the stars.... it was a complete change to our usual weekend routine! The hut was warm and dry... we will definately return!!

Recently had our second stay in this pod. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay again. The children particularly love fishing in the stream. I’m not sure if we would stay in this pod again due to its close location to the facilities there is not much privacy with people... Recently had our second stay in this pod. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay again. The children particularly love fishing in the stream. I’m not sure if we would stay in this pod again due to its close location to the facilities there is not much privacy with people walking past all the time. Also for the second time the fairy lights in the pod did not work. When we went to bed my daughter found 2 plastic arrows (from a children’s bow and arrow set) and a used bandage in the top bunk. For what we paid for the pod I would expect it to be properly cleaned.

Fantastic little campsite, toilets and shower facilities were of a very high standard. We stayed in a family eco pod which was great and we will definitely be coming back.

We love the peaceful location and the chance to enjoy a camp fire in the evenings. The washroom facilities are great, and the pot wash and drying rooms make everything easy. We had a couple of really nice local walks around the area based on routes supplied at the campsite which gave a lot of information about what to see. Barney and his staff were as helpful and friendly as ever.
