The Hideaway is a small, relaxed and friendly campsite ideal for Hobbit House glamping in Yorkshire. The campsite is in the midst of our 110 acre farm, surrounded by trees and bounded on one side by a stream. It is off the beaten track, but only a stroll from the village of Husthwaite. We like to go the extra mile for you so when you feel like something a little different or just don’t fancy packing up the car with that wet tent at the end of your holiday why not book yourself into one of our cosy Hobbit Houses?
With a PROPER double bed plus two single beds (one a bunk) in our luxury Yorkshire glamping Hobbit Houses plus “Up-cycled” outdoor furniture (chairs/benches and tables) made from wooden pallets and decking, fairy lights, plates, bowls, cutlery, mugs, glasses, BBQ tools, portable single gas stove, kettle, and cushions and throws not to mention your own Log-burner inside and your own private campfire outside- there’s quite a lot included!
We suggest bringing a frying pan or two (no pans provided) for those tasty local bacon and eggs in the morning, brought to you by our friendly local butcher - on site on Saturday mornings!!
You will need to bring your own bedding, (none supplied) it is so much nicer having your own pillow you’ve got to admit! It can get a little cool during the night (even in mid-summer) so bring a nice warm duvet.
Other items you will need to bring yourselves include; dishcloths, bag of tealights, and perhaps a gazebo to shelter in from the (rain!) sun.
Our Hobbit Houses have fairy lights and no electricity for the very same reasons mentioned above…
Each House also has its own fire-pit.
In the ideal location for your North Yorkshire Glamping break, The Hideaway is situated on land attached to a 708 year old medieval manor – Baxby Manor! Built in 1308 on the edge of Husthwaite village and nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, The Hideaway is conveniently just 17 miles from the historic city of York.

Stayed two nights in a Hoglet House, and absolutely loved everything about it. Great site, good on-site shop and food shack, and the Hoglet House was wonderfully comfortable and cosy. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Great place to stay. The bathroom and shower facilities were some of the cleanest we have ever experienced. The hoglet house was cosy and there was tons of lovely walks and places to visit for food nearby.

We enjoyed a weekend break in a hoglet house with our son and granddaughter. The accommodation is basic but has most things you need. A useful addition could be a beer bottle opener, fortunately both men had brought multitools with them. The toilets and showers are well equipped, warm and well lit. The push button flushes are quite stiff and could cause issues if the toilets are being used by children as they probably wouldn’t be able to operate them.We had pizza from the onsite facility which was excellent. They also provide a range of breakfast drinks and foods which we did not try. We enjoyed cooking on the open fire, albeit a bit smoky!Overall we enjoyed the stay and would recommend it to others.

From arriving at the site the atmosphere was friendly, staff and other guests too.The site facilities were outstanding, everything you needed was right there. As its not a big site everything is just a short walk, shop, showers, toilet, pizza shack. The sites location is a short walk to a local village, lots to a short drive away too. The site itself is well layed put with glamping pods next to each other but well sectioned off by hedges that you wouldn't even know you had a neighbour! The camping areas had a similar layout too.I wish we had stayed longer and will definately return.

We stayed in a hoglet house at the end of July 2024 - myself with my 16-year-old and 12-year-old. It was very cosy and comfortable, and had the basics of what we needed. We had our own fire pit which was lovely to sit around in the evening, and a little grassy area to play sports. It was great to have the pizza shack on site which meant I did not have to cook dinner or breakfast, there was a bar, and a little shop that was well stocked for its size. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the location was idyllic, giving us the peace and quiet we sought. Thank you - loved it!

Just what you look for when you start out camping. Everything you need on site. Toilets and wash area clean. Perfect little take away hut on site selling breakfasts through to pizzas. Able to light a fire and site around the campfire. Quiet site after 10. Ideal for the kids. We enjoyed our 2 days.

What a lovely spot to stay and enjoy some tranquility and space. A lovely airy campsite with great spacing between tents as well with glamping being absolutely wonderful. Great walks around the site and the fab cider brewery within staggering distance!
