You'll be given the warmest of welcomes by Richard & Hazel, the hosts & creators of this little corner of heaven in North Wales. It has a remote, off-the-beaten track feel - only the hosts, their other guests & occasionally the postie pass by here unless you count the wildlife - hares are common sightings, foxes & badgers sometimes visit & the owls' hoots offer nightly accompaniment to your evening by the fire.
The shepherds' huts are off-grid so there are no digital distractions here - but there's no sacrifice in comfort. The double bed in the sleeping hut is super-comfy & made up with luxury cotton bedlinen and a traditional Welsh blanket. The Welsh dresser has extra blankets for sitting out on cooler evenings, a selection of books, maps and board games as well as binoculars for up-close wildlife watching. The wood-burner in the corner will keep you cosy & warm and a basket of firewood, kindling & firelighters are provided to get you started.
Whilst a stay in the shepherds hut is beautifully romantic, you can bring the children if you're looking for a family getaway instead. Richard & Hazel will pitch a bell tent for you next to the huts which can sleep 2 children. It comes made up with bath towels, 2 single airbeds, cosy sheep wool duvets & pillows & torches - everything your children need for their own glamping adventure. The tent is an additional £150 per stay & must be booked if there are more than 2 guests.
The fully equipped outdoor kitchen is behind the huts, sheltered under a cover in case of rain & overlooking the stream. There's a big gas BBQ, a single gas ring & a sink for washing up. Everything you'll need is provided here - crockery, cutlery and utensils, tea towels & washing up cloths too. There's a cool box for keeping things handy & access to your own fridge & freezer up by the holiday barn for fresh ice blocks & keeping anything that needs it properly chilled.
The bathroom hut has a really good hot shower, wash basin & proper toilet as well as the fantastic Scandinavian wood burning sauna that makes a stay here a must - a basket of logs and kindling are provided for this too. After a day out exploring in the National Park, to go back to a sauna or a crackling fire pit under the starry night sky, you really will feel like you've arrived in heaven.
Prices £110 (weekdays) - £130 (weekends) per night for exclusive use of both shepherds' huts. £150 per stay for the additional bell tent for up to two children. NO 2022 summer price uplift.
