Handmade in 2014, our wooden Shepherd’s Hut is parked on a beautiful meadow on North Farm, near Aylsham in the heart of Norfolk. With built in double bed, woodstove and fire-pit it is camping at its most luxurious.

Mounted on cast-iron wheels from the local foundry, the hut is made from wood and insulated with lambs wool. Inside, it has a 4’6”double bed, chairs and small table and a wood-burning stove. The stove can be used to boil a kettle or warm a basic meal and on colder nights, the hut is extremely cosy.

The hut can be rented alongside Barn Owl and Kingfisher Cottages which are eco-friendly, barn conversions on the same farm. Alternatively, the hut can be complemented by one or two additional tents (bring your own tents) at a cost of £10 per night per person .

A kitchen area and bathroom are available for the exclusive use of the Shepherds Hut guests, situated in a converted outbuilding on the edge of the meadow.

In the kitchen area, there is a small fridge under the sink as well as a microwave, single hob and electric kettle alongside basic crockery and cutlery. You can also charge electronic appliances here (although please note the area is not lockable). A basic crockery and cutlery box is provided free of charge and is stored in the kitchen area. We ask that all of these items are returned clean to the box at the end of your stay. We’d rather do it this way and not charge for them!

The bathroom has a sink, WC and excellent shower - lovely to return to after a wet walk or swim in the river.

Please note that there is no electricity in the hut or in the meadow.

In the hut, there is a stove-top kettle and outside a fire-pit plus a small BBQ and also outdoor furniture. If you wish to do extensive cooking, you will need to bring your own additional equipment. We also provide an essentials box containing tea

Tranquil countryside

Wainwright, Pippa - 17/04/2023

Tranquil and perfectly located both within the farm and within the surrounding area. There are bats at sunset. The hut is warm and the burner is easy to light. The kitchen has everything needed for basic meals. There is a handy lean to with a roof that can accommodate bikes.
