We have camped at Riddings for a while now, stopping every few years and have seen the campsite change over the years. This year seemed to see a change for the worse, with a sharp decline in general maintenance. The shower and toilet building floor is collapsing and the inside is smelly now. The lodges are still warm and comfortable, but again these are now lacking in maintenance. Our cabin smelt damp, probably due to both extractor fans no longer working. The shower cubicle doors no longer stay in there correct position and leak, causing more damp issues. This is generally though, a very clean site with beautiful surroundings and lovely views.

So the scenery weeds weeds and more weeds no effort to keep it maintained being the middle of summer you’d think would be a priority. State of the cabins mould starting to grow wood isn’t treated or sealed out side needs a good wash and sealed. Even had a wasp nest in the roof luckily they kept to themselves. Cob webs everywhere inside and out a damaged lamp not enough towels at the office so we’re given hand towels on second day . No cooling on a hot day one window is not enough definitely need to sort that out. Hot tub was the only thing that we enjoyed. The pictures of the site were deceiving but overall I would stay again as it’s only minor things

"Relaxation away from home"

Mrs C Osborne - Stayed with family, Jun 2022

We had a great time, lovely accommodation, well catered for in terms of provisions - crockery, cutlery, glasses etc. A thoroughly enjoyable stay that we will definitely repeat next year.

"Review of log cabin."

Miss T Parkes - Stayed with partner, May 2022

The log cabin was very tidy and just like the pictures. Hot tub was amazing and definitely the highlight of the stay. Just wished that the cabins were more spread out as we were hearing a lot of children and the cabin would have been amazing isolated. Friendly staff... "Okay"

Miss T Kotova - Stayed with partner, Jun 2022

Nice little lodge, perfect for a couple or someone with a kid, but would be too small for a bigger family with kids. Clean and tidy inside a bit untidy outside(well it’s in the woods kinda so acceptable), still don’t walk to the hot tub without putting your slippers on... Clean and tidy inside a bit untidy outside(well it’s in the woods kinda so acceptable), still don’t walk to the hot tub without putting your slippers on might step on something. I think it’d be nice if they would consider building a little food place on site, 100% lots of people would use it. Can buy charcoal for grill at reception if considering making a bbq. Wouldn’t say there’s much to do no activities, not many places around unless you want to drive somewhere for a couples of hours. Co-op about a mile away and few pubs couple of miles away.

Was expecting the lodges to be deeper into the woodland. Quite surprised to find them near the entrance to the park. The shower door was hanging off on arrival (this should have been reported and fixed before we arrived). In the end my husband worked it out and put it back on the tracks, but it came off again during our stay. (We did report it, but the one person at the office was young and I do not think he knew how to fix it. Also, He had a run on sales of ice-creams, so we waited an hour, hence the reason we looked at it ourselves). ON the subject of the shower, it had no water pressure and barely worked. As you are meant to shower before entering the hot tub, this is not good. The lodge was nice, but the bed had no mattress protector and the mattress was filthy on the top (with a very thin sheet to lie on, that kept "riding off". The quilt cover was torn in several places, exposing the quilt. Needs replacing. The cooking facilities were adequate but I could not find any scissors, or bread knife, so I had to use what I could to open packets. The shared BBQ was unusable. Filthy, full of rainwater, mud, and sticks, and rusty. We had taken coals and BBQ food and couldn't use it. I would get rid of the communal BBQ, it's a false advertisement. Or replace it with a sheltered area and a clean BBQ that has a cover. The hot tub was amazing and the highlight of the stay, as it was undercover it was great when it rained. The lodge was pretty enough and "adequate" for a night or two - but I would be frustrated if I booked for more than 2 nights. I thought it was expensive for what we had. Mobile signal excellent on-site. It was a nice break, a lovely area, but I am unsure if I would book this lodge again. If it wasn't for the hot tub, probably not.
