A platinum 5-star Northumberland campsite with luxury hot tub glamping pods, just 1 mile from Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland, North East England.
Our Castle Pods are located in their own private area on the campsite, with stunning views down the valley and the privacy of your own furnished decking with fire pit, BBQ and outdoor hot tub. These Castle Pods are adult-only and do not facilitate pets.
A quality double bed will be made up for your arrival in luxury linens. Guests have use of a fully equipped kitchenette with a ceramic hob, kettle, microwave and toaster. Additionally, guests are provided with a Nespresso coffee machine, plates, pans and all crockery.
An en-suite toilet and shower comes as standard with all towels provided. A sofa and dining area with wood burning stove and smart TV make the space even more inviting and comfortable all year round.
A large furnished private outdoor space is provided and equipped with a hot tub, fire pit and BBQ. Perfect for relaxing, unwinding and stargazing. Our 5-star campsite is Dark Sky Friendly. Private parking is provided for one vehicle.
Guests can meet our friendly farm animals during their stay: alpacas, donkey, goats, Shetland pony, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs and 2 Kunekune pigs.
On site is a small licensed shop offering home-made pizzas Friday night in season. A sauna is available for exclusive hire.
Whether you’re looking to relax or explore the wonders Northumberland or Hadrian's Wall, this is the perfect getaway to enjoy with friends and family. We have built our reputation on being a peaceful location for a short break and as such, we do not allow group bookings and have a quiet policy after 10:30pm.
Hadrian's Wall is less than a mile away, with the AD122 bus running between April and October to all the major forts and attractions. Alternatively the wall can be walked in both directions. Herding Hill Farm is around 1.5 miles walk from Haltwhistle which has a range of pubs, cafes and shops. There are a range of takeaways that deliver to our campsite for a small fee and we also offer home-made pizzas delivered direct to your own Castle Pod Friday evenings in season.
Haltwhistle is known as the Centre of Britain and Herding Hill Farm is ideally places with the Northumberland coast and castles and Lake District being around a hour's drive. The cities of Newcastle and Carlisle and market towns of Hexham and Corbridge are also just a short drive away.

The pod had everything we could need and loved that BBQ and fire wood was included. The only thing for us that would have made it better was being able to play music whilst in the hot tub. It wasn’t clear that it was a quiet camp on the website before we booked and felt like this should be made clear during the booking stage. Overall a brilliant stay!

Looking forward to returning in 2024. What really stood out was the cleanliness!!! Attention to detail of the Pod we felt very comfortable & the log burner was an added bonus for the cooler evenings. You have a designated parking space which is only a short walk to the Pods. Plenty of space between Pods, so feels very private. Highly recommend the whole site.

Well, you can't be held responsible for the rain or lack of stargazing opportunities. Too much rain to even try the fire pit! Well, you can't be held responsible for the rain or lack of stargazing opportunities. Too much rain to even try the fire pit! It was still a lovely relaxing break, and it turns out I do like hot tubs after all - although my skin is now mega wrinkly! The pod was roomy, the bed comfortable (and no polycotton, thank you), the shower pressure perfect, the underfloor heating lovely (another thing I did not think I was a fan of). It was lovely and quiet, just sheep and cows in the background. If I were picky I'd say not enough shelves/hooks, and a little table for putting things on when on the sofa would not go amiss, but otherwise near enough perfect. Not sure how we'd feel had we not been the only ones there - we really enjoyed the solitude and lack of other people (although appreciate that's not so good for you). Have previously visited in a campervan so can vouch for the incredibly clean (and warm) bathroom/toilet facilities (including bath) and communal areas. No reason to leave

Also warm welcome from Sue, Phil and the team who were very helpful. Particularly as my wife was suffering with a broken arm on our visit. We stayed in a castle pod which is glamping at its most luxurious. Pods are stunning with everything you need and the bonus of your own hot tub. Easy access to Hadrians Wall including Vindolanda, Roman Army Museum and lots more. Can highly recommend and we will definitely be back

I am now of an age that previously enjoyed experiences of camping under canvas or in a caravan are no longer attractive options for me. I am now very much a luxury hotel and personal service individual. That said, I was persuaded to 'camp in a castle pod' and was pleasantly surprised that I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The accommodation and facilities were excellent and the location second to none. Whether I will be saying the same thing in 10 years time as I approach my nineties remains to be seen. Thank you for the experience and lovely holiday.
