Set in the grounds of a Historic House of almost 700 years, The Hamlet at Samlesbury Hall brings a modern take on the quirky, medieval nature of the building.

We have 18 beautiful Shepherd's Huts available, each of which really operates as its own room. There is accommodation for up to four people in each hut with two memory foam mattresses in a bunk bed style layout. There are plug sockets with USB ports for low wattage electricity, alongside a kettle with tea and coffee making facilities (of course!). All of this comes with an en-suite bathroom and power shower. Bedding, towels and toiletries are all provided for your stay. All of our huts are fitted with central heating, to keep you warm in the winter months and to allow the Hamlet to open all year round! Breakfast can be added onto your stay if you wish. It will be served in the Restaurant of the Main Hall the following morning.

Book to stay in one hut or bring your family and friends and book a few, there's plenty to choose from! We allow dogs in one of our huts, so bring along your furry friends too!

Per chance you want to risk a wander around the grounds of one of the most haunted locations in Britain, you are more than welcome to! Who knows what you might spot? The Hall does offer overnight ghost hunts throughout the year so keep an eye out for events coming up. Samlesbury Hall itself is open everyday, except Saturdays and the occasional Friday when we have weddings taking place. The Hamlet, however, is open all year! The Hall is free to enter and to have a look around, with guided tours taking place on Sundays (again, all free!). Follow this with a lovely lunch in our restaurant or even treat yourself to a waffle and ice-cream in Dottie's Wafflery! During school holidays there are numerous activities taking place for children at the Hall, team this with a trip to see our mini farm of pigs, goats, chickens and rabbits. Follow the woodland trail and spent hours of fun on the Mayflower Play Area! After a busy day spent at the Hall, what is better than returning to your hut for a relaxing evening around the Fire Pit.

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area and not just at the Hall, we are only half an hour away from Blackpool, Lancaster and Lytham if you fancy a trip out, or if you'd prefer something a bit more local we are only 5 minutes away from Brockholes Nature Reserve and the famous Preston Guild Wheel cycle route.

Having to walk through large rain puddles in sandals in the pitch black is not something I want to be doing again soon, be sure to take a torch and wellies!!

It was very toasty. The car park was easily accessible to carry bags. The firepit lit very quickly and the tables and chairs outside enabled us to sit around the firepit late into the evening. No problem with any facility in the hut. A definite must to recommend to all family and friends.

"Wedding celebration"

A McNulty - Stayed with family, Oct 2018

We stayed in the Hamlet following a wedding celebration at the Hall. It met our needs perfectly, somewhere near, clean and comfy. Unfortunately it was raining so we couldn’t enjoy the outdoor facilities.

"Totally recommend trying out a Shepherds Hut!"

D Hobbs - Stayed with friends, Oct 2018

What fun place to stay! Cosy, clean, amazingly comfortable beds, brilliant ensuite. My friend, dog and I loved it! I live in London so unfortunately won't get back too often but would definitely stay here again. Such a beautiful setting in the grounds of Salmesbury... What fun place to stay! Such a beautiful setting in the grounds of Salmesbury Hall, easy to drive the short distance from the motorway, and so much to do in the surrounding area. Fantastic!

"Wedding stay"

J Wilkinson - Stayed with friends, Oct 2018

We stayed because we attended our friends wedding. Me and my wife shared a cabin with two friends and that made it very good value for money, it was a lovely setting and the cabin itself was very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again!

Overall our stay and experience at the Hamlet at Samlesbury was very positive. Our only criticism having arrived at the Hamlet after 10:00pm on a dark, wet night is the difficulty we had in finding our Shepherds hut. No site map was given and what lighting there was did not adequately light the pathways to the different groups of huts. Ours, when we eventually found it, was at the far end (no. 23) with little or practically no lighting. The numbers on the huts themselves are also tricky to see in the dark.

Although ‘quaint’ there were some very basic issues which left us disappointed and feeling that this was not worth the £100 paid for one night. There were no hand towels in the bathroom, so you had to use your bath towel to dry your hands. There was also no soap for the sink so we had to reach into the shower to use shower gel instead. It is claimed that the toiletries are luxury, however this can’t be confirmed as they’re in a label-less container attached to the shower wall so could be any brand. Tin cups are provided with a kettle (which doesn’t fit under the sink in the bathroom for filling) which I’m sure are very practical as they can’t be broken, however you can’t drink a hot drink from them as the handles and lips get far too hot. On leaving there were no staff in reception to speak to as check out time is by 10am and the staff don’t start work until 10am. Breakfast isn’t included. They are nice as a novelty, but you can get much better value for money and facilities by booking alternative accommodation.

The shower was excellent. The bed was very comfortable and also very clean. Beautiful scenery as well makes for a lovely walk. There is a little fire pit outside each cluster of three huts and if we hadn't have been going out for a meal, I would definitely have brought some coal for a little barbecue. We visited the Mediterranean restaurant Mezzo, about a 10 minute walk away and it was a little pricey but the food was delicious and well worth it. We stayed for free after booking our wedding, but we will definitely be recommending it to our guests for the wedding night as we would happily have paid the money to stay there. Staff are always so accommodating and friendly at Samlesbury Hall and we have nothing but fabulous things to say about the whole team who have been amazing in guiding us through our wedding planning process and our stay in the hut. Would definitely recommend a peaceful night away here to anyone.

"Our stay in a shepherds hut."

The accommodation was clean and tidy with full bathroom facilities which included central heating. The venue was brilliant and we had a fabulous day. The only constructive feedback I can give is that although the huts are more than adequate the steps need a rail to hold as you get in and out of the hut,me specially when in high heels.
