West Stow Pods is a glamping site situated in a privately owned woodland copse on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.

Seek your next adventure at Pod Hollow, a halfling-inspired subterranean dwelling.

From its rolling hills and fields, to its ancient forests and wild brambles, the Suffolk countryside is full of wonder. And what better way to experience its magic than by staying at Pod Hollow, a charming, and subterranean dwelling built into the side of a grassy knoll.

With two double bedrooms, a sitting room, kitchen and more, Pod Hollow brings together old-world charm and modern comforts in a restful and idyllic environment. It is a home fit for any of Middle-Earth’s hairy-footed, halfling residents. (And you, of course!).

A small, family run glamping site, West Stow Pods is located in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, around four miles from the historic town of Bury St Edmunds. Created in 2013 by Jan and Ed Lengyel, West Stow Pods offers the very best in Suffolk glamping accommodation combined with beautiful surroundings.

We booked Pod Hollow during half term as a treat for our daughters before one of them had a big hospital appointment coming up. We wanted a couple of relaxing days in a fun location and planned to watch the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films. On arrival we were informed the advertised WiFi wasn't working, which was an annoyance particularly for 2 teenagers and meant many of the TV channels couldn't be accessed. In addition the DVD player wasn't working so we spent much of the first evening trying to sort it out and had to ring the owners 3 times before someone offered to come and help. Overall, it's a fantastic and magical place to stay, beautifully designed and equipped, and extremely comfortable, and it was a shame that these details made it less relaxing than we felt we had paid for. We would still recommend it but check these things first!

""It was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort""

It was fun, unique, spacious, clean, warm and we were able to bring our dog with us. There are plenty of trails nearby to keep the dog amused and she couldn't get enough of exploring the West Stow Pods woods. We loved that the Hobbit/LotR books and DVDs were supplied with Pod Hollow and all the quirky props too. The beds were comfy and warm and the bathroom and kitchen facilities great. Thanks for a fantastic stay!

We stayed in the new pod hollow, hobbit hole and although we only stayed for a couple of nights it was a wonderful experience. The staff were more than helpful and incredibly friendly. Everything was immaculate and of high standard. Not to mention it felt like I real hobbit's home! It is a very quiet and peaceful area, I would definitely recommend staying here and I wish we had a longer stay to properly appreciate the surrounding area.

"A long awaited party"

Living locally, I had watched the ideas for Pod Hollow grow and develop into finished 'Hobbit -inspired' accommodation. As a Tolkien fan, staying in such a place was a unique and much anticipated opportunity. The rest of West Stow Pods is very nice but for me it was all about Pod Hollow in its woodland setting. Sitting outside in the sunshine was a joy. Later in the evening when we retired inside to the rounded and welcoming living room then the quality of the experience really came home to us - immersed in our Middle-earth adventure. The facilities are great but for us it was just having this very special place all to ourselves. Of course, we had to "decide what to do with the time that was given to us" (as Gandalf says) - but that was easy at Pod Hollow, we had our own long awaited party!
