Pennine View a family-run caravan and camp site on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, a mile from the centre of the historic market town of Kirkby Stephen. It sits at the midway point of the Coast to Coast route and are only a short drive from both the Lake District National Park, Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North Pennines, meaning that there are lots of walks and cycle routes nearby catering for all tastes.

These beautiful wooden pods can sleep up to 5 people and come with mattresses which convert from comfy benches to a big bed. The pods also come fully equipped with heating, light, a fridge and a kettle. In addition to the stunning mountain views, outside each pod, guests can make use of a BBQ and picnic bench

Guests will need to bring their own bedding, cooking equipment and utensils, towels and charcoal for the BBQ.

Well behaved dogs are allowed in our pods, however you must bring your own bedding for them.

Our spacious washrooms are well appointed and open 24 hours. They boast individual wash cubicles with mirrors, free hot showers, hair dryers and a deep sink in the ladies for baby bathing. A large disabled room is available in both the ladies and gents, which can be used as a family cubicle.

A children’s play area is provided with a swing and climbing frame with slide. Children must be supervised whilst playing on site.

We have a small shop in reception selling essentials to stock you up when you run out. (Plus chocolate because that’s an essential in our eyes!)

We offer free WiFi to our guests on site across all accommodations

Fantastic site and great amenities

Lennox, Keith - 11/09/2026

From my first contact with the team at Pennine View, I was really impressed by their friendly and professional approach. A few days before arriving, we decided to upgrade from our tent pitch to a Mountain Pod. The pod was spotless, spacious, and well-equipped with a full-size fridge, kettle, cutlery, plates, cups, and glasses. It even had a heater for chilly nights, along with plenty of light and power outlets. The bed was easy to set up, reasonably comfortable, and while bedding was available to hire, we brought our own. Conveniently located near the toilets and showers, it was never far to go at night. The on-site kitchen was the best I’ve ever seen, fully equipped for anything you might need. Pennine View is beautifully maintained and has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. The Engine Shed offered an excellent, varied menu throughout the week and reasonably priced drinks from the bar. Thanks to all the staff who make Pennine View such a lovely place to stay—I can’t wait to return.

Glamping at Pennine View

Baxter, Sheila - 27/08/2026

Received a warm welcome at Pennine View. Was directed to my glamping pod and got shown on the map where the facilities were. I knew the pod was basic as I wanted one where I could take my own bedding. The mattress was comfy enough. The fridge was a good size and there was a kettle. Toilets, showers and washing up area very near the pod. There was also a kitchen where you could use the hob for a small charge. The Engine Shed was a pub that served good. Very dog friendly and charming. The only negative was the pod door could do with a paint. It was very tired looking.

Another amazing break at Pennine View

Thomas, Nikki - 25/08/2026

Another fantastic stay at Pennine View for us as a family of 3 plus a dog. Weather wasn’t always on our side but that didn’t get in the way of us exploring the area, spending plenty of time down at the water or we always had the pod to retreat to should we need to. Engine shed was great of an evening with fantastic food choices but also a bonus having a hob available in the campsite kitchen should we need it. All staff were super friendly as always. Breakfast van is a lovely addition too. Facilities were immaculate as always. We will back again very soon

The Park is in a great location and has great facilities on site.

We spent a lovely few days at Pennine View. The site is busy with lots of pitches taken, but it was quiet and really well maintained. The toilets and showers we clean. The washing up areas again were tidy and maintained. We stayed in a mountain pod which was different to our usual tent. The pod was comfortable and spacious inside. And had everything we needed. The bed was surprisingly comfortable and we had plenty of room - we all over slept both mornings of our stay, which is unheard of in our family! The pod did get very warm, so recommend sleeping with both the windows open.We loved the location, having the river and walks on our doorstep was fantastic. We also loved the Engine Shed! The food was delicious and it had a lovely atmosphere. Everyone we met and spoke to were friendly - staff and visitors alike. We will definitely be back for another visit.

We stayed in Bluebell which is a large perfectly hand crafted Shepherds hut. Lotts of space inside your own home for your stay. Really quiet location just outside a town full of restaurants and takeaways. Helpful staff who live onsite. Your own hot tub with room for two.. Oh and say hello to the gruffalow if you can find him.

Excellent campsite

Recently stayed for a couple of nights in one of the pods with our golden lab. This is about our 6th visit here, we love it. Everywhere is spotlessly clean, shower blocks are fantastic with great showers. The camping kitchen is really well equipped and there is a laundry room, dog wash area, outdoor clothes driers. Everything has been thought about. Beautiful well kept gardens and the bonus is having an onsite bar The Engine Shed. Every member of staff were very friendly and positive and rightly proud of the campsite. We will definitely be returning soonThanksJulie and Joe Dawson and Rio
