Churchwood Valley Holiday Cabins

Churchwood Lodge (1 Double, 1 Twin & Sofa Bed)

Lodge
2 Bedrooms
Sleeps 6
Max 2 pets
From £77 per night

Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.

Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.

There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.

Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.

This modern style of lodge has light and spacious interiors and provides a high level of creature comforts, such as dishwashers, washing machines and a TV with DVD player. The Churchwood Lodge can sleep up to six and has one double room, one twin room and a double bed settee in the lounge. Bath or shower. Sliding patio doors enhance the views of the valley over the decking patio.

A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.

If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.

There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

Relaxing with nature

The cabins are clean and well equipped. The staff are very friendly and helpful. On-site shop and launderette. So much to see and do in the area but just as lovely to stay local.Only a few miles to Mount Batten (free parking)to catch ferry to Plymouth. Jennycliffe is wonderful for sunsets.Cliff Edge cafe at Bovisand serves great food as does The Odd Whhel in Wembury. An hour walk along the coast to Heybrook bay and there’s The Eddy pub. We love returning to Churchwood every year!

We love and revisit Churchwood regularly. We love the location particularly, the rustic nature of the setting and the cabins have wonderful picture-windows down the valley. The peace is amazing (out of school holidays), and the facilities on site are great with launderette and well-stocked shop and now SAUNA! We always say it's like visiting the 1960s...There are simple things we notice now. Which it might be nice to develop for the 'Airbnb' holiday-goer:We would love plain crockery. Food looks so much better on plain white or light tone plates. We always take our own knives for cooking, so the ability to hire a cooking knife may be useful for self-caterers.A newer microwave would feel nicer.Plain duvet covers are a risk I suppose, but we'd like that. The hot kitchen tap hilariously sprays anyone that uses it! :-D Reduce pressure..?(But we do love that there are three washing sinks!)Honestly these are only fussy suggestions, not huge criticisms. We will be back

Quiet woodland setting with easy walking access to the beach

Very attractive woodland setting giving a fare degree of privacy. Charming traditional cabins .. Good onsite facilities and a shop to provide most essentials.. Good onsite parking. Excellent Pubs in the locality for lovely meals. Excellent for walkers with access to the coastal path and for naturalists with birds and butterflies, flowers and trees in abundance. .Attentive and charming staff and generally a very good atmosphere and good value for money . .

Stayed many times over many years

Location and cabins are lovely but a few things need addressing. Curtains to bedrooms are very thin and let in light from pre-dawn onwards, disturbing sleep. A smell of damp in various places throughout the cabin. Blunt knives in kitchen. Very few cooking pots and pans.

Family holiday

We enjoyed our stay at Churchwood with our family. Being able to have 2 cabins one above the other, yet apart from others and private, was really good. The Cabins were clean and fresh and we loved the ease at which we could access the lovely beach. The holiday was excellent value for money and everything we we required was available. We would suggest some new crockery for the Cabins as we mixed and matched between the two to get enough glasses and mugs for drinks. We love the area around, and despite the weather, went to various places. Thanks

There is only one criticism that we would make and that is the state of the double bed at 6 church walk, the mattress needs replacing, although a topper has been added it is still not accepable and very uncomfortable. Unless a new mattress is put in at no 6 we would not choose it again although it is the best pisition for us.
