Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.
Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.
There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.
This compact cabin is great for two people and comes with a double bedroom and shower cubicle.
The cabin also comes with a modern fitted kitchen with integrated appliances, an under-counter fridge and microwave, and a TV with DVD player. Located in the centre of the site, this A2 cabin has a peaceful and private patio and is frequently visited by wildlife on the park.
A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.
If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.
There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

I really enjoyed my stay! The facilities were good, although I was out and about most of the time. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and I would definitely recommend staying here. They have their own dog-friendly beach, which sounded lovely, but unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find it. As my dog is very old and slow, it would have been amazing to have a slightly more detailed or updated map showing where to park and how to walk to the beach. One of the best things about my stay was how peaceful and quiet it was. I had the best few nights' sleep I’ve had in a long time! I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing break.

We had the basic one bedroom lodge and absolutely loved it. It was spotless and was charming with homely touches and crockery from the 1970s and retro Pyrex dishes. Our patio looked over the trees and our little dog loved sitting watching the many squirrels that snaffled the birdseed from the bird table. We were there 3 nights and didn’t use the car once - just walked in all directions . Friendly reception and basics available in the little shop. Highly recommended!

The site is located in a deep valley populated with a lot of wildlife, in a relatively remote area so access is via small country lanes. Once you arrive the location is fabulous. The cabins are cosy and arranged to give privacy. The facilities are fairly but provide everything you need. It's in easy walking distance of the beach an access to the South West coastal path. All the paths are steep in places and the coastal path is rugged so requires a reasonable level of fitness but you are rewarded by the views and atmosphere. There are good local pubs around the area, which provide welcome rest stops.

We love it here, its a bit dated in the whole scheme of things to other places we have stayed but its clean & tidy, the shower cubicle is a bit tight for a big guy like me but great water pressure & plenty of hot water so its not a big deal.. Great walks to the local Wdmbury beach & lovely cafe there and not to far to drive to local shops & supermarket etc. Also nice local pubs up thecroad for food if you dont feel like cooking after a busy day on the beach ! We had lovely food at the Odd Wheel & The Mussel inn .

This is the second time we came to Churchwood Valley. We love the location of the cabins between so many trees. It is so comforting to look at all the greenery, and they provide plenty of shade when the days get too hot. In addition, the cabins are a short walk (10-15 minutes, maybe) to the local beach, situated in a small bay, and overlooked by an old church. The beach offers a cafe, bathrooms and showers, and has a nice atmosphere. It has a combination of petals and sand, but we always found a place on the sandy parts. The Southwest Coast Path runs along the beach, and is wonderful to walk in both directions, leading to beautiful Yealm estuary, and spectacular views, and to Plymouth. Plymouth is a half hour drive away, which is great in itself. The staff at Churchwood Valley is very friendly and helpful. In our case, we had a problem with the mattress, and the staff offered a practical solution straight away that worked well. We are happy that we found such a nice pla
