Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.
Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.
There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.
This Churchwood-style cabin accommodates up to four people in one double and one twin bedroom with a bath and shower/shower only. This unit has a modern kitchen with a good sized fridge-freezer and microwave. A TV and DVD player are provided to add some cosy entertainment to your stay. Providing high levels of affordable comfort, this cabin is located in a popular part of the site, and has a secluded patio with views across the valley.
A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.
If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.
There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

We have stayed at Churchwood twice before, when we were first married 59 years ago,and 15 ish years ago.so thought we knew what to expect, little did we factor in our aging process! Seems to be a lot steeper roads than before, our main gripe was not being able to take our dog onto the small beach, which we could do last time.apart from that a lovely place to stay ,very clean cabin tele could do with an upgrade,we are so used to big televisions these days.would recommend if you are fit!

Enjoyed our short break on the lower road to the cabin advised. Nice and quiet and with good nature close around us. Didnt get much chance to see the shop or talk with staff but the one minor change was done with simple arrangement and smiles. Thanks again for this break in beautifull surroundingsBest WishesDavid and Angela Espin.N.B. It seems that my sister stayed in thi vacation some 40 Years ago tith their family and you will be pleased to know she remembered it as a beautifull holiday too.

Another great stay with the estate and wider landscape looking amazing with wildflowers and new foliage everywhere. The cabin was immaculate and well stocked with equipment. Places we love to visit include The Bridge at Mountbatten, the Box museum in Plymouth and Rockets & Rascals/Black Cat Surfclub for coffee & light meals.

We returned to Churchwood valley after 15 years this time with my daughter and grandchildren as did my parents with me .Still an oasis of peace and beautiful nature. Not for those wanting high quality matching crockery, Farrow and ball paint, dishwashers etc but perfect for a comfortable family get together ad you can enjoy meeting up but also have the privacy of your own cabin.Just a little shop where you can buy essentials and local produce and a laundrette if you need it, friendly staff and in the cabins, comfortable beds and adequate facilities but it's the setting that's the star of the show .An affordable break that we intend to repeat many times!

We visited for 4 nights in April for our birthdays, staying in a 2 bed cabin with our 7 month old puppy, Buddy. We loved the cabin and it's location overlooking a valley with a stream running through it and the enclosed patio area was great so Buddy could go out whenever he liked. We were a 10 minute walk to beautiful Wembury beach and a 5 minute walk to reception and the on site shop.It was clean, well equipped and comfortable (although the bed was a little hard for us and the duvet a little small). We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the wildlife. Easy access to Plymouth by road (20 minutes). Staff were friendly and there if needed. Lots of useful information in the folder in the cabin with recommendations for restaurants and things to do. All in all a perfect break in a beautiful location - highly recommended. Thank you 😊

The setting was lovely but the beds and pillows were very uncomfortable - even the children didn’t sleep well.
