Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.
Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.
There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.
This Churchwood-built cabin accommodates up to four people in two twin bedrooms and has a bath with shower over/walk in shower. This unit has a well equipped kitchen with a good sized fridge-freezer and microwave. A TV and DVD player are provided to add some cosy entertainment to your stay. Providing high levels of affordable comfort, this cabin is located in a popular part of the site, and has a secluded patio with views across the valley.
A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.
If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.
There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

I booked several cabins for our walking group and we all loved the place. It's not often you sit and drink a cup of tea with a squirrel sat on the windowsill watching you. We did some lovely coastal path walks and some site seeing and found Churchwood Valley to be the perfect base. Would definitely recommend The Eddystone Inn for the food and the views.

Friendly staff and a well looked after site. The cabin was clean and all the appliances had instructions for use. The venue is managed in an environmentally friendly way. It's easy to walk to the beach and there are plenty of country walks as well. The area needs careful driving but there is good access to the main Devon expressway for places further afield. Overall a lovely place to stay which is why we have been coming for many years.

Tricky initial accessibility but once we knew the area better it was fine. Fabulous secluded location with lovely birdsong. Close to SWCP ideal for us. A great little shop, could order pasties etc for next day delivery. Shop stocked most stuff you require for a good holiday.

We stayed for 3 nights at church wood and were made to feel so welcome by everyone there. The cabin was great and had everything we needed, with the beach and surrounding areas lovely to walk around. We will definitely be back one day and thank you once again to everyone there during our visit.

Another really enjoyable stay at Churchwood. We love staying here and so does our dog. The cabin is clean and warm. We always stay in Low Road as it's flat. The view from the windows is lovely and it's lovely to hear birds rather than cars and aircraft. The local eateries particularly The Mussel Inn and Jennycliffe cafe are excellent. The staff are great, always ready to help quickly to sort out any problems, especially the two Toms and Sam and Jo on reception. We are back again in the summer!

We spent another fabulous Christmas at Churchwood. The cabin we regularly stay in on Low Road is well equipped and warm and cosy. The staff especially the two Toms and Sam the receptionist are always really helpful and friendly. Every member of staff you meet are happy to chat to you. They also put a Christmas tree and presents in the cabin for you, a really nice touch. I wouldn't stay anywhere else! Wembury is a beautiful place with a great beach which our dog who is made welcome loves. The Old Mill Cafe is great for a coffee and a snack. We will be back in April

This is our 3rd stay at Churchwood and we enjoy every moment we're here, even in the torrent of rain that we encountered.Very peaceful area, excellent walking with the dogs.Torain not suitable if you have walking difficulties, but there is a National trust car park that overlooks the sea front, it's worth the visit. All the staff at Churchwood are helpful and friendly.Love staying here. Hope to be back next year.
