Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.
Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.
There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.
This compact cabin is great for two people and comes with a double bedroom and shower cubicle.
The cabin also comes with a modern fitted kitchen with integrated appliances, an under-counter fridge and microwave, and a TV with DVD player. Located in the centre of the site, this A2 cabin has a peaceful and private patio and is frequently visited by wildlife on the park.
A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.
If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.
There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

The lodge was clean and very well equipped. Very private and in beautiful natural settings, we had a visit from an inquisitive squirrel and a pheasant popped onto our decking to say hello.A short walk to the beach. All the staff were very polite, helpful and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble.Only negative was it smelt musty when we arrived and was cold, maybe putting on the heating prior to arrival would have helped

Delightful, peaceful surroundings. Feeling as if you are truly in the heart of a wood made this a special place for a tranquil escape. The accommodation was simple but comfortable and clean, and the large windows offered a beautiful outlook.Very friendly staff and easy parking. The little shop is a useful facility. The beautiful coast is only a short distance away offering walks, beaches and local history during all seasons.Overall, I think Churchwood offers value for money.

Churchwood Valley is just Magical! We first visited in 1990 when our children were small and have tried to come back every few years whenever we can. The cabins are very comfortable and cosy and you have everything you could possibly need for a really enjoyable stay. Our cabin was spotless, the location was super and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly! The site itself is very peaceful and a real break from the stresses of everyday life. We parked our car on arrival and it did not move until the day we left as we decided to walk to all the local scenic spots! The coastline there is just beautiful and it's well worth the walk.We tried The Odd Wheel, The Mussel Inn and the Eddystone Inn and can honestly say all the meals we had were superb and we would highly recommend them all.It was a lovely break for us after a rather difficult year so a big THANK YOU to all of the Family and staff who work so very hard to keep the site in such excellent condition for us.

If you just want to get away from everything to experience the peace and quiet then you will love Churchwood. Stroll down to the beach, enjoy a cream tea or just a coffee, wander along the coastline. Perfect! We will definitely be back soon with our dog.

Our first visit. The site is magnificent. I am 79 and my wife 76. Fortunately we are both reasonably fit. The roads around the site are in some places extremely narrow so care is required when driving and or walking. The chalet was immaculately clean and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom more than adequate. We are at the Odd Wheel pub on a couple of occasions. The food is excellent and portions large. We walked over 50 miles during our week using the ferry to cross the river Yealm on two occasions. Noss Mayo is wonderful as are all of the pubs. We visited Plymouth and the Eden Project whilst there. The only times that we used the car during our stay. The cost is fair considering the price of holiday accommodation anywhere in the UK these days. Checking in was easy and the pre arrival correspondence excellent. Overall we do not have a bad word to say about our experience and would definitely recommend others, who are reasonably fit to visit Churchwood Valley.

If you like a holiday in the woods this holiday village is a great place to stay. The cabin's are cosy with everything you need and it's near the beach where there's a cafe and a museum.

Lovely quite secluded location but close enough to Plymouth

Great location within walking distance of Wembury beach and the village, however not the most accessible due to the narrow twisting roads with passing places. Run by the owners/ directors who are extremely friendly and helpful and go out of their way to ensure any issues are immediately resolved. The unit was clean and had everything we needed. We had 2 small dogs with us and found the outside fenced off patio area ideal for letting them loose to have a run around. Wembury and Plymouth both have several dog friendly pubs and the meals we had were excellent.
