Churchwood Valley is a beautiful, natural wooded valley running down to the sea at Wembury Bay in South Devon, near Plymouth. Look closely and, hidden among the lush green foliage, you’ll see wooden cabins nestling on the hillside.
Each holiday cabin has its own plot on the hillside, surrounded by trees, flowering shrubs, hedges and rustic fences. All our cabins have views across the valley, with some looking out over the water meadow or towards the sea.
There’s a car parking space near each cabin and private roads and paths give access to the beach, an unspoiled stretch of rock pools and shingle with sand at low tide. Adjoining National Trust land, the beach is no more than a 10-minute stroll away from any of the cabins.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in each cabin for a small charge, there are dog exercise areas on site and plenty of space for canine roaming locally.
This compact cabin is great for two people and comes with a double bedroom and shower cubicle.
The cabin also comes with a modern fitted kitchen with integrated appliances, an under-counter fridge and microwave, and a TV with DVD player. Located in the centre of the site, this A2 cabin has a peaceful and private patio and is frequently visited by wildlife on the park.
A haven of peace within an environmental paradise, Churchwood Valley is a few minutes’ walk from a safe family beach and the South West Coast Path.
If ‘getting away from it all’ is the most important part of your holiday – Churchwood Valley is for you. Each holiday cabin is nestled within the woodland. By moving no further than your armchair, you’ll see delightful displays of birdlife, and a trip to your private patio may well afford a glimpse of badgers, foxes, squirrels, and other wildlife.
There are no discos, bars, or cafes – just rock pools, wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Secluded it may be, isolated it is not. Churchwood’s licensed shop sells a wide range of food and drink, beach toys, gifts, and many other products, so you don’t even need to leave the site for those ‘essential’ items. We also have a fully equipped launderette. If you feel the need for a more extensive shop, or have a taste for the bright lights, the city of Plymouth is just a 20 minute drive away.

Time out from busy life to be in nature and walk on the beach and coastal path

We had the most enjoyable stay at Churchwood. We wanted time away from Bristol, but wanted to be close to family at Christmas this is exactly what we got we booked through Booking.com, but next time we will book directly through Churchwood as we needed a accommodation which had an enclosed deck for our two dogs. It’s a short but breathtaking walk to the beach To make our stay even more amazing they went to the trouble of wrapping a small gift and a Christmas card. We really did feel welcomed. We are planning our next stay with Churchwood in the near future. Thank you so much we truly had a wonderful time

The cabin was well equipped . Unfortunately the weather was abysmal so restricted us . The roads to the campsite were very narrow. Being on the side of the valley to walk anywhere it was very steep either going out or coming back. Wonderful spot if you are young and fit, but in your seventies quite strenuous. If we had better weather it would have been more enjoyable.

this area is like living at home only a bit more secluded and quieter, I loved that. the safety is well taken of with many tips of what to do, very clean, and enough around to help with dirty clothes or some extra stuff you might've forgotten to take for example snacks, wet suits etc. there are beautiful paths that take you to the village right next to it or the beach, it is gorgeous. the staff is very friendly also. the money was enough for this experience it was not expensive nor too little it had everything we needed. no complaints from us, although my partner did say his back would hurt after sleeping on the bed, mine did not so not sure haha. there are activities and many things to do around. they give you a little booklet with everything you need to know for the place you're sataying and everything around.

My third time at Churchwood. Again thoroughly enjoyed it. Made friends with a squirrel {I named Sidney}who would knock on our bedroom window in a morning. Accessibility is difficult but that goes with the wonderful location. The lodge was ideal for the two of us and ideal for visiting areas in both Devon and Cornwall. We had days out at Kingsbridge, Plymouth and Mount Edgcumbe-very interesting or just walked the Coastal Path left or right from the beach.

What a beautiful place. Feels like a hidden gem. The peace and tranquillity has left me feeling so rested. Myself and my husband loved sitting outside at night time, listening to the owls in the distance, which was literally the only sound. And early evening, we strolled through the valley path along to Wembury Beach to watch the sunset which was truly stunning. The cabin itself was perfect for our needs... very comfortable, clean, warm and private. The facilities on site were good with the shop being well stocked. There are some lovely pubs nearby to eat, or cooking a meal at the cabin is another option... we did both. If you're looking for a peaceful place to visit, with stunning walks along the coastline, then I'd totally recommend this place to stay... it is beautiful and we will certainly be visiting again.

Lovely to wake up to the sun filtering through the trees and at night hear the owl. A definite highlight! Great access to the beach and coastal path without needing to travel by car.Cabin clean, comfortable and basic with a private patio. More akin to camping than Airbnb or cottage rental.

On arrival staff very friendly & helpful. Parking an issue as the "residents" have several cars & park in your allocated spaces so you will need to walk. The "cream tea" extra consists of two scones not 4 as advertised & a tea bag no sugar (not even a sachet) or milk (pot). After a long drive don't think that was too much to ask.to be fair they do say Milk etc not provided. However a couple of even UHT milk would be nice. They have a shop but if you arrive at 3 when Lodge avail it doesn't open till 5 so you will need to bring brew kit with you. After a long drive you will probably need the facilities however Soap no where to be seen again a small bar would not be too much to ask. (There is washing up liquid) we took the option of having towels provided these are very old, tired & one was ripped. The lodge was very clean & tidy. Had every thing you needed (baking tray would be useful) I honestly don't wish yo be unduly negative but for some very small & not very expensive additions our

I really enjoyed some quiet time in my little cabin, which was immaculately clean and had everything I needed. The site is a little steep, but even with a dodgy knee was manageable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I didn't get out and about as I was there on retreat, but was happy just to enjoy the nature and peacefulness of the site. The price was very reasonable and I felt I got good value for money.Only one piece of constructive criticism and that is the hand drawn map for access, as my satnav hadn't been updated to the new road system. I tried to use it to get back to the main road, having be lead by my satnav down some difficult roads on the way in, and had it not been for a few people riding might still have been wandering the Devon lanes, especially as what looked to be a fairly straight road on the map presented me with a T junction with no indication as to which way to go. Only a small thing, but important if you don't know the area.
